With the announcement of “Lautes Gedenken”, VERSENGOLD are kicking off the release of their eleventh studio album on 03.11.2023 – just in time for the 20th anniversary. With “Funkenflug”, “Nordlicht” and most recently “Was kost die Welt”, the band can look back on three top-5 albums in recent history and can draw from a wealth of experience for the current album.

“Lutes Gedenken” is the quintessence of 20 years of Versengold distilled to 13 tracks: lyrical aspiration in sometimes gloomy, sometimes tongue-in-cheek funny garb meets earthy-folky sound and strong Celtic influences with a musical background that oscillates easily between classic rock, metal, folk and pop, without losing stylistic stringency. Since the band’s existence, VERSENGOLD has succeeded in dancing between the genres with an ease that is unparalleled in the German-speaking world.

With apt comments on current events, lines with a pinch of northern German local patriotism, touching ballads and of course some hearty celebration songs, the latest work of the band presents itself as imaginative and balanced as usual: the lyrics of singer Malte Hoyer skilfully hit the core of the matter, without losing finesse, catchiness and profundity.

“Lautes Gedenken” will be released on 03.11.2023, one day before the big anniversary concert “20 years of Versengold” in the sold-out Barclays Arena in Hamburg. The album can be pre-ordered as a CD in the digipack, fanbox, and in other configurations.
