Night Ranger had a one of a kind performance at the Key Bank State Theatre in Cleveland on November 9th 2022 as they performed their entire show with the Contemporary Youth Orchestra. CYO is made up of 90+ musicians aged 12 to 18, representing more than 40 schools in Ohio. It has grown to include a full orchestra, wind, string and percussion ensembles. The students performed alongside Night Ranger on all 15 of their songs this night.

Contemporary Youth Orchestra, founded in 1995, aims to give students the opportunity to work and perform both new and contemporary orchestral music. One of the regular projects of the Cleveland-based CYO has been to collaborate with well-known pop and rock acts such as Jefferson Starship, Styx, Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo, and Kenny Loggins (among others) for orchestral concerts featuring the artists’ work. It’s a slightly different arrangement of their music in which the orchestra works with the composer to develop the full orchestral performance.

This show was unlike any other Night Ranger show – not only did it raise funds for the Contemporary Youth Orchestra Education Fund, but the band decided to film the entire performance and bring it to the masses showing it all start to finish. These unique renditions of their greatest hits were for the first time ever – performed with an entire symphonic orchestra. The setlist combined the band’s classics, new songs and covers, and all of this together is what made this a truly once in a lifetime Night Ranger concert event.

Originally formed in Cork, Ireland in 1966 by Rory Gallagher, Taste had a brief but influential career, releasing two studio albums in 1969 and 1970 and disbanding shortly after their legendary appearance at the 1970 Isle Of Wight Festival, which is the centerpiece of this film. The core of ‘What’s Going On’ is the band’s performance at the festival on August 28th but it is encapsulated by a documentary on the history and importance of Taste and setting the scene for their Isle Of Wight Festival appearance. This features contributions from Rory Gallagher’s brother Donal along with Brian May (Queen), The Edge (U2), Bob Geldof and renowned guitarist Larry Coryell. Rory Gallagher would go on to enjoy an acclaimed and highly successful solo career and this electrifying show by Taste is an early example of Rory’s justified reputation as the ultimate live performer.

“Beauty & The Beat” is something very different than your ordinary rock show, let alone your ordinary classic concert. It’s music played in an unorthodox manner, it’s the performance of a wide range of classical pieces and rock songs together with an orchestra and choir. It strikes you with awe. Originally planned as a one-time event – the first performance was already held in 2011, the show was too successful with fans and critics to simply never happen again. In spring 2013, Tarja Turunen and drummer Mike Terrana, who is also part of her current live band, toured throughout the world, from Poland over Russia to Mexico. During this tour, the live CD, DVD and Blu-ray was recorded in stunning HD. “Beauty & The Beat”‘s music ranges from immortal classic music pieces ranging from Bach, Strauss and Mozart to Rossini, and doesn’t neglect pure rock music with songs from Led Zeppelin, Queen and Tarja’s as well as Mike’s own pieces. All combined with an enormous orchestra sound, energetic drums and Tarja’s angelic voice. Tarja and Mike complement each other musically. Whereas Mike bangs his drums like a mad man, Tarja shines with her crystal clear voice and incredible stage presence all lulled with the warm, full sound of an orchestra. Tarja Turunen explains: “The idea of having a symphonic orchestra, choir and Mr. Terrana on drums was originally mine. I believe this kind of combination of instruments, particularlyplaying mainly classical music, is very unique. I have been making collaborations with orchestras before, but those concerts were different. Our main goal with this kind of concerts is that the younger audience experiences the beauty and power of a symphonic orchestra and choir. Hopefully it will serve as an introduction to classical music for some of our fans.” Mike Terrana jokingly adds: “It’s obvious that I provide the BEAT & Tarja provides the BEAUTY.”

No other voice and artist influenced and basically created the female fronted symphonic metal genre as much as Tarja. A pioneer in goth- and symphonic metal, the classically trained Finn rose to fame with the band Nightwish, whose face and voice she had been for 9 years. Tarja, whose vocal range goes as far as three octaves, started her solo career after stepping out of Nightwish in 2004. Filmed during Tarja’s world tour ‘The Shadow Shows’, during which the influential heavy rock singer circled the world 7 ½ times and played over 200 shows in 40 countries in front of 1 million people, ‘Act II’ consists of the singer’s very intimate 75 minute set filmed and recorded live at the Metropolis Studio in London, UK and the breathtaking live performance of one of her shows in Milan, Italy, and previously unreleased interviews and photo galleries. The theatrical rock adventure ‘Act II’ combines two incredible, yet slightly different live performances on video: The first chapter, ‘Metropolis Alive’, has been filmed two months prior to the release of Tarja’s 2016 success The Shadow Self . 20 winners from all over Europe were lucky to witness Tarja’s intimate, yet rocking 75 minute set at renowned Metropolis Studios in London, UK where the singer performed songs from her then unreleased album for the first time in front of an audience. Available on 2 CD, 3LP (180 Gram Vinyl) + Download Card, DVD, BluRay and Digital

Act 1 is Tarja’s first ever solo live video product in her rock/metal outfit – probably her most spectacular release ever. The main content was filmed and recorded over two nights in March of 2012, at the Teatro El Círculo, in Rosario, Argentina, a beautiful and breathtaking theater setting.

With its elaborate track listing, Act 1 provides the full-fledged bill of fare to any Tarja fan. The track listing consists of Tarja’s greatest solo tracks, some Nightwish classics like Nemo, and cover versions of Over The Hills And Far Away (Gary Moore) and Phantom Of The Opera (Andrew Lloyd Webber). The Blu-Ray also includes the song Tired Of Being Alone, which Tarja wrote with Schiller – or to make it short: a unique blend of music selection.

The set up of these concerts meant an incredible amount of extra work and effort in the live production – with an impressive result, but also an emotional roller coaster ride. Says Turunen: Those two nights in Rosario were a huge emotional drive to me personally.

The artist herself admits, she was ready to burst into tears many times.

Bob Marley’s 70th birthday year (2015) will include a variety of releases and events to commemorate the legend, his work and iconic impact. Over the course of the year, his legacy will be remembered by new releases of rare and unreleased material as well as fan favorite deluxe editions of his most memorable work. The first release will be available on February 17. BOB MARLEY & THE WAILERS – EASY SKANKING IN BOSTON ’78, features two historic live shows from Boston’s Music Hall, June 8, 1978. This new and unreleased performance is from the Marley family giving unprecedented access for the first time to their personal material from their private collections and their vaults. The album will be available on blu-ray/cd combo pack as well as dvd/cd and standalone cd versions. Additional newly created animated material will also be a part of this release, marking the first time the family has incorporated this technology into any official Marley releases.

The video footage was shot with a hand-held camera by a fan that Marley allowed to sit right in front of the stage. The result is remarkable imagery that captures Marley from just a few feet away, allowing one to experience the intimacy of his set. While the cinematographer was shooting with film and forced to change rolls of tape, the gaps in the live footage have been augmented with specially created animation over the existing audio. The animation video elements were produced and created by the animation team of S77 whose credits include recent projects for Bruno Mars, Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Disney, ESPN and many others. The 46-minute video includes seven of the 13 songs in the full set.

Highlights of the performance include a lively “Jammin’” and “The Heathen,” a song Marley and the band didn’t perform during the second set. The show features them at their most comfortable, truly enjoying themselves in the spotlight, basking in the appreciation of the audience.

Marley, a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, is notable not only as the man who put reggae on the global map, but, as a statesman in his native Jamaica, he famously brought together the country’s warring factions — symbolized by rival politicians Michael Manley and Edward Siega joining hands on-stage — during his legendary “One Love Peace Concert” in Kingston, which took place on April 22, 1978, less than six weeks before this Music Hall performance in Boston. It was five years since Marley and the band arrived from Jamaica, with the 1977 release of EXODUS, recorded in London just after an assassination attempt on his life, turned into not just a socio-political statement, but one which included such hits as the title track, “Waiting In Vain” and “One Love,” paving the way for their next release Kaya and a world tour in ’78. Together with his music’s theme of liberation, Marley’s own rags-to-riches story brought inspiration to subjugated people around the world, where he was revered as a larger-than-life leader.

Today, Bob Marley remains one of the 20th century’s most important and influential entertainment icons. Marley’s lifestyle and music continue to inspire new generations as his legacy lives on through his music. In the digital era, he has the second-highest social media following of any posthumous celebrity, with the official Bob Marley Facebook page drawing more than 74 million fans, ranking it among the Top 20 of all Facebook pages and Top 10 among celebrity pages. Marley’s music catalog has sold millions of albums worldwide.

This unbelievable concert film captures the first ever live performance by The Who of “Tommy” in its entirety and boasts over two hours and twenty minutes of content. The show includes all time classics like Pinball Wizard, I’m Free, Amazing Journey, We’re Not Gonna Take It, I Can’t Explain, Who Are You, Won’t Get Fooled Again, I Can See For Miles and many more!

In April 2017 The Who took to the stage at London’s Royal Albert Hall to perform their rock opera “Tommy” live in its entirety for the first time in their long and illustrious career. Previous Who live shows had always dropped two, three or four tracks from the album but for this show in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust the band would perform every track. With specially created animations on a huge screen above the stage and creative use of lighting the concert told the story of the “deaf, dumb and blind kid who sure played a mean pinball.” In addition, at the end of Tommy, the sell-out crowd was treated to a short set of Who classics. Always a great live band, this performance was a thrilling ride from start to finish.
As well as the incredible full show, we also include some great bonus features. There is a behind the scenes featurette, plus also full screen animations of both The Acid Queen and Pinball Wizard with the live performance audio.

Eagle Rock Entertainment has officially announced that it will release on Blu-ray/2CD, as well as vinyl and DVD/2CD, The Rolling Stones: Bridges to Bremen. Street date is June 21.

Bridges to Bremen captures a complete show from the final leg of the Rolling Stones year-long tour in support of their Bridges to Babylon album, which achieved Platinum and Gold status in multiple markets upon the album’s original release in 1997.

Ever the innovators, The Bridges To Babylon Tour was one of firsts – the first time the band went on the road with a permanent, and now infamous, B-stage, and also the first time that fans could vote on the band’s website for a track they wanted to hear at the show – “Memory Motel” in the case of the Bremen fans, making each show on the tour unique.

Opening with “Satisfaction”, a snake-hipped Jagger, sporting a bright yellow shirt & scarf, is a streak of canary-colored lightning, while Keith prowls the stage in a tiger print duster coat. Lisa Fisher accompanies Jagger on vocals for a storming version of “Gimme Shelter”, and Bridges single “Saint of Me” receives a rousing welcome. By Stones standards, Bremen was an intimate show, a 40,000 fan-strong hot ticket, for which the band enthusiastically kicked out 155 minutes of unadulterated rock ‘n’ roll.

This concert film has been meticulously restored from the original masters, and the audio remixed and remastered from the live multitrack recordings. Four tracks from the band’s Soldier Field performances in Chicago are included as bonus features on all physical visual formats.

The release of Bridges To Bremen comes at a busy time for the band – Honk, a brand new Best Of compilation featuring 36 essential Stones tracks from 1971 to 2016’s Blue & Lonesome (with the deluxe also featuring 10 live tracks recorded at stadiums around the world) is released on April 19th by Polydor
