Real Machine was created entirely at Sound Matters Cph. with bass player Karsten Dines Johansen as the main producer. Staying true to their roots with heavy riffs, mean beats and steel guitars along with their signature elements of blues harp and keys, this album also demonstrates the versatility and musical capabilities of this band by exploring new sounds with synths and samples.

Rouse, upon completing the Symphony No. 6 at his home in Baltimore on June 6, 2019, wrote, “One final time my subject is death, though in this event it is my own of which I write.” He died three months later, in hospice, on September 21, and the Sixth Symphony was premiered on October 18 by Music Director Louis Langrée and the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra…

This is Chilly Gonzales’ first album written and performed in the language of Molière and Bangalter.
He doesn’t even have the decency to take off his charentaises before setting foot in the dish: ladies and gentlemen, before your amazed eyes, here is Chilly Gonzales’ new artistic rear wheel turn.
The Canadian über-entertainer has distinguished himself both in the intimate register with his delicate trilogy of albums SOLO PIANO and in the rowdy spectacle, distilling his showman energy through all the philharmonies of Europe. He has collaborated with internationally renowned artists such as Feist, Drake, Jarvis Cocker and Daft Punk, and the anthemic power of his song Smothered Mate (taken from IVORY TOWER) made it the soundtrack for the Blues’ victories.

Ever Since I Lost My Mind is the third album and Rounder Records debut for SUSTO, the creative musical persona of charismatic frontman Justin Osborne. The album is a resounding triumph: a mix of new partnerships and collaborations with old friends, all anchored by Osborne’s perceptive songs that explore connection, loss, and transience––and the pain and joy each brings. With their rock-rooted sound, SUSTO keeps listeners engaged by refusing to occupy an easily defined space. Produced by Ian Fitchuck (Kacey Musgraves, Ruston Kelly) and featuring key input from Osborne’s longtime creative sounding board Wolfgang Zimmerman, Ever Since I Lost My Mind defiantly experiments with synth embellishments, Latin heart, guileless folk, and more.

The debut Hubro album by the highly regarded Norwegian power-trio Bushman’s Revenge – cult stars of the Rune Grammofon label for a decade – operates on several levels simultaneously. It can even sound like the work of several different trios. After a hypnotic experimental prelude that creates a sort of audible weather system, with the delicate, bare-wire glissandos of Even Helte Hermansen’s soprano guitar heard against Gard Nilssen’s Pink Floyd-ish beaten drums and the unusually reticent, elegantly dancing measures of Rune Nergaard’s electric bass, ‘Et Hån Mot Overklassen’ (which Google Translate renders as “A Mockery of the Upper Class’) begins to settle into a form of strikingly virtuosic and proggy jazz-rock; the instruments sound pretty much like guitar, bass and drums are meant to do, and the opening numbers follow a recognisable jazz model of theme/improv/theme. Then, as the long, riverine meanders of guitarist Even Helte Hermansen really get into their stride, and the effects-pedal expressionism of his chosen settings and style thicken the timbre into a growling axe-attack, things steadily become chewier and more challenging.
By the time you get deep into the heart of the album, past rumbling audio-sculptures, tamboura drones, found-sound samples, the twangy blues jam and soaring gothic soundscape, it can be hard to be sure where one instrument ends and another begins.

Michèl Yost, a Parisian by birth, was a famous French clarinet virtuoso in his time. He is regarded as one of France’s first important clarinetists and as the cofounder of the French school of clarinet playing and gained renown beyond France’s borders already during his lifetime. Along with clarinet chamber music and a collection of études that is no longer extant, we know of fourteen clarinet concertos by Yost, some of which he composed in collaboration with the German composer and Paris resident Johann Christoph Vogel. Susanne Heilig, who since 2001 has been the principal clarinetist of the Bielefeld Philharmonic, interprets the solo parts of predominantly virtuosic character. The symphony by Johann Christoph Vogel rounding off the album contains a last movement with dramatic and even gloomy elements distinguishing it from what were often the very light and pleasant concluding movements of the symphonies and instrumental concertos of his period and displays surprising musical turns of events setting it apart from the average symphonic music of its times.

Franz Schubert returned to composing string quartets in the 1820s, after four years of focusing on songs which were beginning to gain him wider recognition. His late chamber compositions reveal probably his most characteristic music, full of deep intimacy and profound ambivalence. The ‘Quartettsatz’ (Quartet Movement) presents a turbulent, norm-breaking first movement. If the ‘Rosamunde’ and ‘Death and the Maiden’ are the most frequently heard of the quartets of Schubert, his last completed one –in G major –certainly remains his most uncompromising in its vastness, and perhaps his most prophetic of the musical future.

The Down with Romanticism project is the brainchild of two questing musicians — cellist, David Eggert, and fortepianist, Gili Loftus — and is the culmination of over a decade of artistic collaboration. Following meticulous archival research and immersions into the soundworld of the early days of the recording era, they have embarked on an experimental approach to explore forgotten dimensions of playing 19th century music. Their performance showcases flexibility of tempo and rhythm, elasticity of intonation and pitch, generous use of portamento, flexible alignment of the pianist’s right and left hands and heightened individualistic expression like you’ve never heard before, but that were once standard for music of this era — all on two beautiful period instruments.

Ain t gonna stop until I stop it, ain t gonna let it go until I drop it, growls Eddie Spaghetti on the first track off the Supersuckers 13th studio album Play That Rock´n`Roll. Tracked over the course of four sweltering days at Willie Nelson s Austin, TX studio, Play That Rock´n`Roll rocks with an amphetamine intensity, delivering muscular riffs, big choruses and more than a few tricks up its sleeve. Raw, immediate and often times hilarious, Play That Rock´n`Roll is the album a band makes after slugging it out on the road for thirty years (barring a one year hiatus while Eddie battled throat cancer). No frills, no guest stars and no collaborations, the album earns the listener s ear the Supersuckers have lived this sh*t and you can feel it. Songs like Bringing It Back and Last Time Again deliver a Ramones-like wall of sound, courtesy of guitarist Metal Marty Chandler, while You Ain t The Boss Of Me recalls Dirty Deeds-era AC/DC and never one to be taken too seriously, Eddie and company make sure to keep the Supersuckers tongue firmly planted in cheek with That s a Thing? and Gettin Into Each Other s Pants . The album also includes a rousing cover of Michael Monroe s Dead, Jail Or Rock´n`Roll and a long overdue revival of the Allen Toussaint penned A Certain Girl . All in all, Play That Rock´n`Roll delivers the middle finger brand of Rock´n`Roll the band has been known for since signing to Sub Pop in the early 1990 s. Combining the ferocity of Motörhead, the off kilter humor of Cheap Trick and the swagger of Steve Earle, the Suckers earned their spurs playing everywhere from dirt floor dive bars to The Tonight Show. Thirty years later, they still deliver the goods, or in the words of Eddie Spaghetti himself The Supersuckers have been doing this for a long time. A LONG time. And the fact that we re still doing it is not lost on us. We still love Rock´n`Roll. I mean, we must. There s no other explanation for why we would still be putting out fresh, new rock music anymore. No one NEEDS it. Hell, hardly anybody even WANTS it. But here it is. Another master class in quality Rock´n`Roll. Sure it s for the few, the proud, the People of Impeccable Taste, the Connoisseurs Of Quality, but it makes us happy to know we still got it. And we do. We might be better than we ve ever been and that s exciting. So here it is, our love letter to good, ass kicking Rock´n`Roll. Turn it on, turn it up and listen to the Supersuckers play that Rock´n` Roll!!

Recorded live at Storyville jazz club, New York, October 24 & 29, 1977. Quite simply one of Sun Ra’s best live albums. This rare recording (originally on Horo records) finds Ra, along with a 19-piece Arkestra, playing a mix of his own compositions (‘Images’ and ‘Lights’) along with several jazz standards (including Jelly Roll Morton’s ‘King Porter Stomp’ and Duke Ellington’s ‘Lightnin”). While Ra’s own compositions were usually more avant-garde affairs, he always revelled in playing the classics as well in an effort to give his audience a lesson in jazz history.”

Sweathog was an American rock band. Group members Lenny Goldsmith and David Leonard Johnson first met in 1967 while Johnson was playing in a group called The Persuaders at the Wayne Manor nightclub in Sunnyvale, California. After Johnson did a stint with the Beach Boys and Dr. John, he reconvened with Lenny and formed Sweathog along with Barry “Frosty” Smith, also known as Bartholomew Eugene Smith-Frost, who at that time was playing with Lee Michaels and had been in Lenny’s band in San Jose. Robert Morris “B.J.” Jones (November 9, 1942 – June 15, 2013) played with Johnson in Blue Mountain Eagle and was invited to join Sweathog.
