Cyril Scott’s music inhabits a sound-world that is very much its own, despite the inevitable comparisons to composers such as Scriabin, Sorabji, and even the French impressionists. One senses Brabbins revelling in the gamut – the mesmerising slow movement, the clownish scherzo.
