Solo album by BLUE POETS mastermind MARCUS DEML on TRIPLE COIL MUSIC.

In 2020, guitar virtuoso Marcus Deml was sitting at home and had a lot of free time (we all know why!). So much for the initial situation that led to the creation of his new album “Healing Hands”, the first solo album in his long career. The result is an instrumental album that captivates the listener melodiously through its exuberant, stylistic diversity. Already the first bars of the anthemic title track point the way into the world of the world-class guitarist, who here tastefully puts his outstanding skills at the service of his compositions.

Whether fusion, blues, flamenco, Latin, swing, rock or breakneck up-tempo hillbilly – Marcus Deml shines in every respect. Deml was born in Prague and came via stations such as Salzburg, Munich, Frankfurt and Los Angeles finally to Hamburg, where he has lived for over 20 years. The graduate of the GIT in L. A. lived in the USA for 7 years and played on more than 100 albums as a sideman for greats like Bobb y Kimball, Rick Astley, Snap, Lai th Al-Deen, Saga, Michael Sadler, John Wetton, Nena, Achim Reichel, Moses P., Phil’s son Simon Collins, Pat Mears or Sabrina Setlur.

In 1998 he started his fusion band Errorhead, with which he released six albums and a live DVD. In 2005 Marcus received a “Guitar Hero Award” for his album “ErrorRhythm” as one of the world’s best new guitarists at the Rock’n’Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. His latest band project is The Blue Poets with singer Gordon Grey, who caused a sensation with their three albums and brilliant live gigs.

The album is the world recording premiere of the oeuvre of the Poznań composer Stefan Poradowski, whose output, once known and enjoyed by a wide audience, has been unjustly forgotten. Stefan Bolesław Poradowski (1902-1967) was a musician, composer and teacher who rendered great service to Poznań and the Greater Poland region. His oeuvre underwent many stylistic changes reflecting the musical background of the era. His Double Bass Concerto, Op. 26 from 1929 is a work in the Neo-Romantic spirit (recorded in a new arrangement on this album).

The common question as to who was the most important Hungarian composer of the twentieth century – Béla Bartók or Zoltán Kodály – would have been vehemently rejected by the two like-minded friends. On the one hand, they shared many ideas and goals, such as researching Hungarian folk music, which they recorded in the countryside before and after the First World War using a wax cylinder phonograph. Bartók and Kodály made the original music of the peasant societies, which has nothing to do with the idea of Csárdás fire and Puszta romanticism, the basis of their own idioms, which they further developed in very personal ways. On the other hand, the careers of the two composers progressed in entirely different ways. While Bartók embraced international modernism and went into American exile at the height of fascist rule in Hungary, Kodály remained in his home country even under politically difficult circumstances, devoting himself unswervingly to his great task: integrating music into the school curriculum in order to make it the basis of national consciousness and social behaviour.

Mendelssohn is a challenge, because his music appears to be so deceptively easy,” says the pianist Claire Huangci, speaking about her new album. Together with violinist Marc Bouchkov she has recorded works by Mendelssohn for violin and piano: the two Violin Sonatas in F – one major, one minor – and the Double Concerto in D minor. They are accompanied in the latter work by the successful conductor Howard Griffiths and the Basel Chamber Orchestra. As Ms Huangci points out, this represents a program rich in contrasts highlighting Mendelssohn’s artistry and the versatility of such a combination of works: “A mix requiring wit and brilliance on the one hand, while also requiring the performers to go beneath the surface and reveal a deeper meaning including sorrow, compassion and nobility, and that is something that is not easy to detect at first glance. The young Felix Mendelssohn has such a feel for the dramatic.

Giovanni Battista Bononcini (1670-1747) and his younger brother, Antonio Maria (1677-1726) were considered by their contemporaries to be among the most outstanding cello virtuosi of their time; today, however, they are best known not only as composers of vocal music but also as two of the greatest representatives of the galant style. It is to their music, often unpublished, that Marco Ceccato and his Accademia introduce us here.

The first solo album released by the former frontman of Mano Negra, Clandestino is an enchanting trip through Latin-flavored worldbeat rock, reliant on a potpourri of musical styles from traditional Latin and salsa to dub to rock & roll to French pop to experimental rock to techno. Chao’s voice tends to be a bit nasally, but the best songs (“Mentira,” “Mama Call,” and the silly novelty “Bongo Bong”) here benefit from his infectious, freewheeling delivery which incorporates balladry, chorus vocals, rapping, and tossed-off spoken-word passages. Just about every track has odd sampled bits from what sound like pirate radio-station broadcasts (a possible link to the title). There are so many great ideas on this record that it’s difficult to digest in one listen, but multiple plays reveal the great depth of Manu Chao’s artistry. – John Bush

Debut album “King Of The Badlands” promises to be one of the most exciting surprises in the international landscape of hard and melodic rock. Manic Sinners’ sound has all the elements that fans of this style love: soaring vocals, crushing riffs, blistering solos, ear candy hooks and a splendid power ballad. The band brought in Alessandro Del Vecchio (Hardline, Revolution Saints, Jorn, etc.) to mix the album in order to give it the cracking sound the band envisioned.

Hot on the heels of their internationally acclaimed 2020 release Organic, standout Serbian pianist Maja Alvanovic and her trio present their fourth studio album, Wind Rose, this April 7th. A further exploration into the interactive, contemplative and dynamic style they’ve come to be known for, Wind Rose balances the comforting and familiar with the unconventional and surprising for a truly enchanting listen. Driven by lyrical melodies and delicate compositions which trace the jazz lineage from the likes of Bill Evans to Nordic icons E.S.T. the romantic piano stylings of Alvanovic are complemented by longtime bassist Ervin Malina and rising star drummer Lav Kovač, whose propulsive, fluid, and textural approaches to trio musicianship craft a refreshingly modern sound. Expanding the trio’s timbral palette are guest appearances from vocalist Aneta George and clarinettist Ulrich Drechsler, who transport the record to the realm of melancholic chamber music. The ensemble’s collective focus on musicianship is apparent even in its name; drawing parallels to the meteorological tool used to identify the point at which winds converge, Majamisty TriO’s Wind Rose is the point at which musicians of different origins and backgrounds collaborated to create something special.
