In celebration of the 150th Anniversary this Album focus on still less-known but exceptional sensitive and impressive Choral Symphonic and Orchestra songs by Max Reger. With these works, Reger entirely adhered to the trend of the time; the large-scale idea, which would have had no place in the operas of the period, is transferred to the concert hall, so to speak, and is as far removed from the “simple” orchestral song as some of Mahler’s Rückert-Lieder. The Hebbel Requiem, Op. 144b includes audible parallels with Johannes Brahms‘s German Requiem and was Reger’s memorial for the German soldiers killed in the war.

Die Aufnahmen von Bach-Kantaten mit Christoph Spering und seinen Ensembles Chorus Musicus Köln und Das Neue Orchester für Deutsche Harmonia Mundi erhielten weltweit sehr gute Besprechungen. Die Aufnahme aller Bach’schen Lutherkantaten zum Reformationsjahr 2017 wurde sogar mit einem ECHO Klassik ausgezeichnet: »Es ist eine in vielen Facetten neuartige und stets gut überlegte Produktion geworden.«, »Spering wirbt durch unaufdringliches Understatement umso eindringlicher für diese Stücke.« schrieb die Presse.

Auch das »Eternity«-Album mit Bachs Choralkantaten BWV 3, 10, 20, 93, 116, 124 erhielt 4 Sterne bei FONO FORUM.

Brand new recording of all Luther cantatas composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. 2017 marks the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation. Half a millennium ago, on October 31, 1517, Martin Luther launched this movement by posting his 95 theses on the door of Wittenberg’s Castle Church. Two centuries later, inspired by Luther’s words, & fully in the spirit of the reformer’s aim of spreading his theories via hymns, Johann Sebastian Bach composed what is probably the most significant body of cantatas based on Luther’s texts. Now, in honour of one of the most important events in Western religious history, Christoph Spering, his choir Chorus Musicus Köln & Das Neue Orchester have recorded Bach’s complete Luther cantatas.

Bach -The Luther Cantatas”, Christoph Speringand his two ensembles again present a very interesting mixture of traditionally and newly interpreted cantatas of Johann Sebastian Bach (1685 -1750).
