Originally released in 2010, Pyramid of the Sun was Maserati’s landmark album. It was the band’s final recording with drummer Jerry Fuchs, completed and released one year after his tragic passing. It became their defining album, and remains the keystone of Maserati’s storied catalog. As the final piece in the celebration of Maserati’s 20th anniversary, Pyramid of the Sun – Anniversary Edition has been repackaged, remastered from the original master tapes by Josh Bonati, and augmented with a scorching live set from the 2009 SXSW Music Conference. Also included are the side-long bonus tracks, “Pyramid of the Moon” and “Pyramid of the Moon (The Field Remix).”

Since 2013, Danish quartet Kalaha’s multi-award-winning sound has been characterised by a melting pot of worldwide musical cultures including Brazilian Samba, Anatolian rock, African highlife, desert blues and contemporary western electronic music, resulting in acclaim from critics and vinyl connoisseurs alike. Their sixth album ‘Nordhavn’ is set to release on January 26th on April Records. The record follows on from their 2022 release ‘Tutku’, a collaboration with the Aarhus Jazz Orchestra and vocalist Hilal Kaya celebrating the sound of Turkish music in the 70’s. After 20 years as a working unit John Etheridge and his Blue Spirits trio have appropriately released a live album that captures the band’s brilliance in the area of blues inflected jazz. Guitarist John Etheridge hardly needs introduction having worked as a solo artist and bandleader and in lengthy associations with some of the greatest names of 20th century music – Stephane Grappelli, Soft Machine, John Williams, Nigel Kennedy, Andy Summers – which give some idea of his range – over 53 years as a working musician. The music here subtly reveals all these influences, brought to bear in an organ trio setting.
With Etheridge is Pete Whittaker, the most reactive and sensitive organist, a strong soloist with great groove and on drums, George Double, a man with just the right feel for this music. Together they make a very special sound, quite distinct from other organ trios, by turns aggressive and tender, swinging and rocking.

James Strauss (b. November 29, 1974 Recife, Pernambuco) is a Brazilian flautist and musicologist.
Strauss began taking violin lessons from his father when he was four years old, but switched to the flute a few years later. He graduated from the Paris Conservatory with Pierre-Yves Artaud, Maurice Pruvot, and Lazslo Hadadi. Concurrently he studied Flute with Jean-Pierre Rampal. His career as a flute soloist started in 1991 with his performance with the Festival Orchestra of the 23rd Music Festival in Campos do Jordão, conducted by Júlio Medaglia.
In 1999, he moved to Finland, and began looking for Piotr Ilyitch Tchaikovsky’s legendary “Flute Concerto”, of which Rampal had seen a page in the 1960s in the Soviet Union. He eventually found three pieces of the original composition (one in St. Petersburg, one in Finland, one in Klin) and reconstructed from them the Concertstück for Flute, TH 247, now catalogued as a posthumous work by Tchaikovsky. From 2017 to 2020 James Strauss publishes the albums Mozart Discoveries, Latin Connections, Venezuelan Elegy, produced by Danilo Alvarez.

Since our founding in 2005, we have been introducing audiences world-wide to a range of experimental chamber music. We perform everywhere from classical music halls to art galleries to bars. We commission new music and collaborate with composers to bring it to life. We commit to helping dismantle outmoded classical music pipelines for composers through our JACK Studio program, which includes residencies, commissions, readings, and recordings. We’re the Quartet in Residence at The New School in New York City, and we teach at music festivals, conservatories, and universities.

It has come to my attention that over 40 + years of recording, fans very much appreciate the way that I arrange and perform ballads. I think my love for ballad playing goes back to my early years as a music student and how much I learned about harmony studying the solo piano recordings of the late great Bill Evans. He has a melancholy joyfulness in his approach to ballads and that sound has never left my ear.
At the sametime, playing the Blues has always come naturally to me perhaps because I understand the feeling so profoundly. So I had the idea to combine these two aspects of my musical character, and do an EP of Ballads and Blues, and with a nod to the late great McCoy Tyner, call it Ballads & Blues.
