Immediately returning to the studio after the initial success of Pain, Ohio Players created what would be the most influential album of their career. Released near the tail end of 1972, along with another set of powerful and soul funk, The Players unleashed “Funky Worm” onto the world. Massive chart success followed, and the world at large met Junie’s “Granny” character and a tale about the funkiest worm of all time. Beyond the massive initial success, Junie’s high-pitched ARP synth sounds also provided one of the foundational motifs of West Coast Rap and “Funky Worm” remains one of the most sampled songs in the history of Hip Hop. “As the progenitor of a style whose influence more or less came to define the in- strumental music of the High Baroque, Arcangelo Corelli (1653 – 1713) occupies a position in music history as unenviable as it is to his great credit. Just what made Corelli’s style seem strikingly novel to his contemporaries is a tricky question. To be sure, his standardization and popularization of certain formal tropes – most notably the succession of movement types in Sonate da Camera and Sonate da Chiesa – was a significant part of what his followers considered the ‘Corellian’ manner. But Corelli’s actual compositional style, his way of organizing musical thoughts into phrases and motives, is fundamentally derived from the expressive capabilities of his chosen instrument, the violin. Certain melodic patterns used to modulate and to effect sequences (e.g., chains of sevenths and fifths) basically derive from specificities of violin technique that amplify an instrument with origins primarily in dance music into one that in Corelli’s hands, could imitate the rise and fall of the sung and spoken human voice. This tension between idiomatically in- strumental techniques and the evocation of the voice is the defining characteristic of Corelli’s style throughout all his surviving works and would establish the “Roman School” as the supreme measure of musical taste for generations.

Sticky Fingers is the eleventh American studio album by the English rock band the Rolling Stones, released on 23 April 1971. It is the band’s first album of the decade and the first release on the band’s new label Rolling Stones Records, after having been contracted since 1963 with Decca Records in the UK and London Records in the US. It is Mick Taylor’s second full-length appearance on a Rolling Stones album and the second Rolling Stones album not to feature any contributions from guitarist and founder Brian Jones after the live album Get Yer Ya-Ya’s Out!.
Sticky Fingers is considered one of the Rolling Stones’ best albums. It achieved triple platinum certification in the US, with songs such as the chart-topping “Brown Sugar,” the country ballad “Dead Flowers”, “Wild Horses,” “Can’t You Hear Me Knocking,” and “Moonlight Mile”. The original cover artwork, conceived by Andy Warhol and photographed and designed by members of his art collective, The Factory, was highly innovative, showing a sexually suggestive picture of a man in tight jeans complete with a fully working zipper that opened to reveal a pair of underwear. Owing to the damage caused by the zipper to the vinyl disc, and the expense in producing the unusual cover, later re-issues featured just the outer photograph of the jeans.
Instrumentally, the album featured a return to basics for the Rolling Stones. Absent was the unusual instrumentation which had been introduced several albums prior, most songs featuring drums, guitar, bass, and percussion as provided by the key members.
This remastered and expanded release features a bonus disc of alternate and acoustic versions, as well as several live tracks taken from the band’s performance at the Roundhouse in 1971.
