“Four voices in perfect harmony: The New York Voices are rightly considered one of the world’s best vocal jazz ensembles. The quartet, decorated with two Grammys, exists since thirty years but does not show any sign of fatigue. The vocal group has refined vocal jazz to high art. They are known for inspired arrangements, amazing precision, skilful tempo changes, dynamic sensitivity, razor-sharp timing, unprecedented vocal mixing, incredible stylistic versatility and perfect sound. Reminiscing in Tempo is the anniversary recording of the quartet and one of the most ambitious projects in its entire catalog. The New York Voices dive deep into the jazz canon with standards by Cole Porter and Al Jolson, as well as gems from the catalogs of Chick Corea, Fred Hersch and Duke Ellington. As always, the band also looks beyond the jazz repertoire and presents two idiosyncratic originals, classics by the Beatles and Ivan Lins and even settings for the Cuban classic Ignacio Cervantes. It’s a combination that has long distinguished its thoughtful recordings and concert performances over the years as a refinement element of its ever-evolving history.
