Before signing with Columbia Records in 1969 and becoming one of the world’s preeminent blues guitarists, Johnny Winter recorded a series of singles and tracks with producers Ken Ritter and Roy C. Ames. From this material, The Johnny Winter Story was released on GRT Records in 1969, followed in the same year by About Blues on Janus Records. The following year, Janus released another collection, Early Times. They became the definitive collections of the future legend’s early work.
