Tweedy—the family band of Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy and his sons, Spencer and Sam—have completed their first film score. The trio composed the soundtrack for Showbiz Kids, a new documentary from Alex Winter (best known as Bill from Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventures). The forthcoming movie follows actors who got their start in Hollywood when they were children.

In an interview with Rolling Stone’s Kory Grow, Spencer and Sam Tweedy explained how the process of writing music for Showbiz Kids was different from how past Tweedy albums have come together. “It was really a new way of working and it was really rewarding. Especially when it comes to the work that Sammy does with synthesizers,” Spencer said. “We don’t always have an outlet for drone things or sequenced things, so it was an opportunity to combine some synthesized stuff with acoustic instruments. It was a challenge we’re all grateful that Alex gave us.”
