There is no shortage of audacity in Tristan Mélia. Still unknown two years ago, this young pianist delivered in 2019 a very successful debut album with the evocative title ” No Problem “. 2 million streams later, and barely 24 years old, this time Tristan tackles one of the most difficult exercises ever, the solo piano. For the recording of this album “Mistake Romance”, he recorded more than 100 tracks in 2 days at the Recall Studio. Arriving with a few ideas, the pianist gave free rein to his imagination and talent. It took us longer to choose the tracks you’re going to listen to today, than to record them! A discreet character, Tristan moves forward without asking questions, yet full of doubts. It may seem like it belongs to another era, but make no mistake. We are in 2021, Mistake Romance is the second album by Tristan Mélia. And it won’t be the last. he has the makings of a great man. A good hearer.

The 6th chapter already in our quite productive recording existence. It’s been only going up from when we first started out and we like to express that positive vibe into our music as well.

Usually lots of laughter and funny stories created by nature. Food for creative thoughts that often inspires our lyrics and titles. Every time we ‘hop’ into our transportation towards the next gig, it is almost certain a new adventure is about to enfold. Our reward of course is to entertain the people and fans on stage, but even there…you see, we give it our all, and like to take risks within the music big time. The beauty of each and every concert being totally different and a challenge for us to fulfill.

For close to 300 years Bach’s Goldberg Variations have awed performers as well as listeners, through an unparalleled combination of a dazzling variety of expression and breath-taking virtuosity with stupendous polyphonic mastery. No wonder then that other musicians than harpsichordists have wanted to make it their own – pianists, first and foremost, but also accordion players and guitarists, flautists and harpists. Having performed and recorded much of the classical as well as the modern string trio repertoire, Trio Zimmermann began working on the Goldberg Variations several years ago, playing an existing arrangement. But in their own words, the three members – among the leading string players of our time – ‘soon became captivated by the original score and its innumerable beauties and details’. As a result they have jointly prepared a performing version which here receives its first recording. Playing an important part on this album are also the Trio’s instruments – all by Antonio Stradivarius, and featured in close-up on the cover.

After celebrating thirty years of life and work together with the Trios by Dvořak, our three wandering companions (Vincent Coq, piano, Jean-Marc Phillips-Varjabédian, violin and Raphaël Pidoux, cello) have brought out another round of Trios, this time by Joseph Haydn, the inventor of this form, which is an inheritor of the baroque trio sonata, with a cello part often providing the basso continuo. There are 39 authentic compositions by Haydn for this instrumental format, which he wrote at various points throughout his life. The music is of very high quality and it unites all the characteristic forms of his style, his vivacity, expression, freedom of tone and form, and the zest of his cheering humour. The Wanderers have judiciously selected their works from three different epochs for this new album which offers the Trios n° 14, 18, 21, 26 & 31 which offer plenty of surprises and rare tonalities from Haydn, like A-flat major, F-sharp minor, or E-flat minor. In April 2022 Mostly Autumn were given the amazing opportunity to have two days in Abbey Road studios by York St John University. This recording is the result. Bryan Josh says: -“Unloading our equipment into Abbey Road – Studio 2 was like some untouchable dream you had as a child but were now part of. With the giants of music breathing down our necks and all those classic songs still ghosting in the walls, we set the band up together with a string quartet to record a live performance. There was no audience, barring the on-site engineers, film crew and some onlookers from York St John University. We all knew this was a once in a lifetime opportunity. This was just us performing live – a group of musicians performing as one when it really mattered, in that incredible cathedral of music history, Abbey Road – Studio 2.”

The violinist Franziska Pietsch and her Trio Lirico present their debut album on audite.
In between the poles of preserving tradition and striving towards fin de siècle modernism, Max Reger composed three works between 1904 and 1914/15 featuring a particular sense of clarity which the composer associated with Mozart. Even at their premieres, the two String Trios and the late Piano Quartet each caused a sensation, not least as their compositional complexity, for which Reger was (in)famous, mostly runs underneath the surface, creating an easier listening experience. These tuneful and harmonically rich works which, at times, enter into direct dialogue with works of the past, are rarely heard, even though they represent important cornerstones of their respective genres.
The Trio Lirico was founded in 2014 and soon established itself on the concert scene. The ensemble’s varied repertoire ranges from classicism through to contemporary music. The three performers are brought together by their passion for chamber music; in addition, all three also enjoy solo careers. It is this soloistic influence within a chamber music formation that constitutes the trademark of the ensemble: the chamber music dialogue is conducted with soloistic passion without neglecting the ensemble’s homogeneity. The result is a unique combination of enthusiastic and spirited music-making and attractive suspense. The Munich-based pianist Detlev Eisinger joins the ensemble for the Piano Quartet.

Bach’s dialog cantatas occupy a very special place in his vast oeuvre of cantatas: As if in a personal dialog, the “Christian soul” (soprano) and “Christ” (bass) enter into a dialogue, designed by Bach as a spiritual “love duet”, which Miriam Feuersinger and Klaus Mertens interpret here in the most intimate way imaginable. The two cantatas Ich geh und suche mit Verlangen BWV 49 and Liebster Jesu, mein Verlangen BWV 32 are complemented by Christoph Graupner’s oboe concerto in C major GWV 302, performed by oboist Elisabeth Grümmer.
