Martina McBride – Everlasting Tour – Live From the Ryman Auditorium 1080i HDTV DD5.1 MPEG2-TrollHD

Martina McBride completely wowed a 2,000-plus-member crowd Saturday night (Nov. 1) as she brought her Everlasting Tour to the Ryman Auditorium in her adopted hometown of Nashville. And she proceeded to remind fans just why she is truly everlasting, displaying the powerhouse vocals that have repeatedly given us chills during her formidable 22-year career.

The four-time CMA Female Vocalist of the Year winner had audience members on their feet several times during the evening, especially as she belted out signature songs like “Independence Day” and “A Broken Wing.” And “In My Daughter’s Eyes” even brought tears to this writer’s eyes. Martina sings with such untempered, raw emotion and makes you feel like you’re the only one in the room.

The crowd was equally as riveted as Martina performed the R&B/pop covers that sent Everlasting to the top of the album charts. The four-piece horn section and her soulful backing singers (as well as her rocking regular band) breathed new life into classics like Elvis Presley’s “Suspicious Minds” and Van Morrison’s “Wild Night,” among others.

But perhaps the surprise highlight of the evening was when Martina was joined onstage by rocker Gavin DeGraw to sing Sam Cooke’s “Bring It On Home to Me,” causing the crowd to erupt at their perfect harmonizing and vocal prowess.

In short, there is no one who sings like Martina McBride—no one. That alone is worth the price of admission. Everything else is just icing on the country cake.
