Experimental North London alt-pop outfit Gengahr return with their anticipated new album, Red Sun Titans, produced and mixed by Matt Glasbey (who’s worked with Ed Sheeran, alt-J, Coldplay, Rag’n’Bone Man & P!nk) and Executive Production by Charlie Andrew (who’s worked on all 3 alt-J albums, Wolf Alice, London Grammer, Bloc Party, Matt Corby, Benjamin Leftwich and more) – their first record since 2020’s Sanctuary. Comprising of bassist Hugh Schulte, drummer Danny Ward, lead vocals/guitarist Felix Bushe and guitarist John Victor, Gengahr first arrived in 2015 with their debut album, A Dream Outside, gathering rave reviews for its dark take on dreamy shoegaze and updated approach to British-bred indie rock. The band promoted the record on a nationwide and European tour before getting to work on their sophomore effort Where Wilderness Grows (2017), praised by the likes of DIY and The Line of Best Fit. They returned in 2020 for their third LP, Sanctuary, capturing the magic from their debut and featuring hits ‘Heavenly Maybe’ and ‘Icarus’.

Soundway reissues the vocal and instrumental versions of ‘If I Love You’, from G.C. Cameron, the lead singer of the legendary soul group The Spinners. The release also includes two unreleased recordings from the same session – ‘Live for Love’ and ‘Thank You Baby’.
Hailing from McCall Creek, Mississippi, G.C. Cameron rose to fame at 22 years of age, when he joined Motown Records to become lead singer of The Spinners. After a string of well received releases, including chartbuster ‘It’s A Shame’, co-written and produced by Stevie Wonder, Cameron left The Spinners to pursue a solo career.
It was a trip to Fantasy Studios, San Francisco in 1977, where Cameron teamed up with Harvey Faqua, Greg Crockett and Elgie Stover to realise what is arguably his finest work. A full album was recorded, but only two tracks saw the light of day, via the short-lived UK label, Flamingo.

When Falco embarked on his “Emotional” world tour in September 1986, he was at the peak of his career: the fourth album of the same name was #1 in the album charts in Germany and Austria, he had superstar status in the German-speaking world and in the largest part of Europe and “Rock Me Amadeus” from the previous album “Falco 3” brought the Viennese eccentric to number 1 on the Billboard “Hot 100” charts in March of that year – as the only artist in the USA to ever achieve this historic peak with a German-language song could climb. On June 9, 2023, Warner Music will release this top-class contemporary Falco document. “Live Forever: The Complete Show (Berlin 1986)” contains the full-length Berlin concert (22 tracks – 2023 remaster).

The duo shares an expressive vocality and an approach to construction that is both elemental and ritualistic, while at other times haunting and ethereal, permeated by a dose of horror. Inspired by the lineage of guitar/saxophone duos — from Fred Frith and Anthony Braxton to Tim Berne and Bill Frisell — Earth’s Precisions expands on this tradition, at once confounding the sounds of their instruments past recognition and returning them to a seemingly nascent state.

Christopher Bear & Daniel Rossen (of the indie rock band Grizzly Bear) have teamed up to score the upcoming drama Past Lives. The film is written and directed by Celine Song and stars Greta Lee, Teo Yoo and John Magaro. The movie follows two deeply connected childhood friends whose relationship ended abruptly when one of their families emigrated from South Korea to Canada as they reunite in New York two decades later and confront notions of destiny and love. Killer Films’ Christine Vachon (Carol, Far from Heaven) & Pamela Koffler (Still Alice, One Hour Photo) are producing the A24 production with David Hinojosa (First Reformed, Zola). Bear has previously scored three seasons of HBO’s High Maintenance, the short Shako Mako, the documentary Soul of Soho and an episode of AppleTV+’s docuseries Home. Past Lives will premiere this weekend at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival and is expected to be released in theaters later this year by A24.

Carter Brey (born 1954) is an American cello virtuoso. He had a prolific solo career from 1981 until 1996 when he became the principal cellist of the New York Philharmonic, a position he still holds today.
Carter Brey was born in Montclair, New Jersey and grew up in Westchester County, New York. He began playing the violin at age 9 and the cello at age 12 in school, although he did not seriously consider becoming a professional musician until he was 16. He studied under Laurence Lesser and Stephen Kates at Johns Hopkins University’s Peabody Institute and later with Aldo Parisot at Yale University, where he was a Wardell Fellow and a Houpt Scholar. He taught at the University of South Florida in between his time at Peabody and Yale. In 1979 he joined the Cleveland Orchestra where he played for two seasons.
