he began his musical career studying with his parents, luthier João Cruz and Janette Sanchez Cruz at the age of 8, having as his first instrument of study: the piano. At the age of 10 he began to learn to play the violin. He studied violin in Brazil with Erich Lenninger and Maria Vichnia. Subsequently, he participated in master classes and classes with Kenneth Goldsmith (USA), Chaim Taub (Israel) and with Joseph Gingold (USA). He studied theory, harmony, counterpoint and conducting with Prof. Dr. George Olivier Toni.

In addition, he attended UNIRIO (Federal University of the state of Rio de Janeiro) from 1983 to 1985 the course of instrumentalist, specialty, violin. Later, he took chamber music classes at the Escola Municipal de Música de São Paulo with Walter Bianchi. Graduated in Philosophy-Degree from the University of Franca (UNIFRAN), currently studying for a master’s degree in music at UNESP, Universidade Estadual Paulista “Júlio de Mesquita Filho”.

As a soloist he had his first performance at the age of 13, playing a concerto by Johann Sebastian Bach with a small string group. At the age of 15 he became a member of the Orquestra Jovem Da Funarj (RJ) and played several concerts as a soloist with the Orquestra de Câmara da Casa do Estudante (RJ). At the age of 18, he returned to São Paulo, after winning some contests, among them the young soloists contest of Osesp and Eldorado music contest, he joined OSESP. At this time he was the spalla of the Chamber Orchestra “Crescendo” and later “Da Capo”.
