The Blue Meaning is the second studio album by the English new wave band Toyah, fronted by Toyah Wilcox, released in 1980 by Safari Records. It reached the Top 40 on the UK Albums Chart.

Originally released in 1980, The Blue Meaning was new wave outfit Toyah’s sophomore album, following their debut, Sheep Farming in Barnet. Although both LPs were released in the same year, The Blue Meaning was considered the band’s proper debut, with the former album running just over 20 minutes. Recorded at the Parkgate Studios, Battle, East Sussex with producer Steve James, the set launched the band’s idiosyncratic new wave pop sound, led by Toyah Willcox’s vocals.
