In collaboration with the award-winning Julius Quartet, EMERGE will be launching its inaugural workshop this September 2020: a 3-day new music reading laboratory and concert webinar. Thiscutting-edge platform will provide emerging composers worldwide the opportunity to breathe life into their creative works, especially during such trying and unprecedented times. For our inaugural season, we plan to host at least two workshops (Fall 2020 and Spring 2021) in an effort to reach a wide audience of composers hungry for growth both musically and professionally. To that end, we welcome the opportunity to discuss a potential collaboration between our two organizations in hopes that we might assist growth in our respective businesses.

The Julius Quartet has performed a large array of contemporary music, including extensive experience working alongside living composers. The ensemble is currently partnered with The Boston Conservatory at Berklee’s High School Composition Intensive which mentors bright young composers writing for the string quartet medium. Furthermore, the quartet has mentored graduate and undergraduate composers during their tenure as the PEAK Fellowship Ensemble-in-Residence at Southern Methodist University, helping students realize their string quartet compositions through reading sessions and coachings. Inspired through its many years of experience, the Julius Quartet is determined to bring this ground-breaking virtual workshop to life to further its effort of cultivating and nurturing composers worldwide.

The major expenses for this unique experience will include facility rental, professional recording engineer services, recording equipment and other necessary accessories.
