There’s more where folklore came from. After the surprise release of her eighth studio album in July, Taylor Swift again announced a new record on short notice – in this case, evermore, on the eve of its Dec. 11 midnight release.

On social media, Swift referred to the album as folklore’s sister record. “To put it plainly, we just couldn’t stop writing songs,” she wrote. And though fans have long referred to each of the star’s album cycles as eras, Swift says not so fast this time around.

After being the Princess of Nashville and then the World Queen of Pop, might Taylor Swift now be the goddess of indie folk? In the summer of 2020, she released the surprising Folklore. An album produced by Aaron Dessner of the National, on which she performs with Justin Vernon of Bon Iver. With no pop bangers, no body-built beats, it’s the perfect folk counterpoint, carried by understated instrumentation mixing piano, acoustic guitar, mellotron, mandolin and slide guitar. Barely five months later, Evermore has all the hallmarks of the sequel to Folklore: it might even be its twin. Especially since Bon Iver and the National are still there. The Haim sisters and Marcus Mumford of Mumford & Sons have joined the ranks of these classy guests. Taylor Swift keeps her folk-pop troubadour costume on, and here becomes more introspective than ever. Her songs offer a precise fusion of real facts and improbable daydreams. Obviously, Folklore’s element of surprise is no longer on the agenda. But that doesn’t keep the star from coming out with strong lyrics about fame (Gold Rush and Dorothea), separation (Happiness) or the twilight of love (Tolerate It). She says she spent 2020 writing, writing, writing, and her pen clearly got a workout. Not all of her songs are of the same calibre, and Folklore remains superior overall. But taken as a whole, all of these 2020 recordings have tipped her over into another world. The fascinating little craft business that Taylor Swift is running here has shaken up the pop canon to make a sound that’s even more personal and universal than ever. The second in a series of catalog re-recordings and revisions, Red [Taylor’s Version] finds Taylor Swift revisiting her self-styled pop breakthrough Red. Released nine years after the original album, Red [Taylor’s Version] does bear a few signs of maturation, notably on the explicitly pop moments, such as “I Knew You Were Trouble,” “22,” and “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” which seem ever so slightly muted when compared to the 2012 versions. Nevertheless, much of the point of the re-recordings is to get these new versions as close to the original versions as possible so they can be easily licensed and to that end, Swift succeeds admirably. The more interesting part of Red [Taylor’s Version] arrives in the second half when Swift records songs left in the vault, including “Better Man” — a song she gave to Little Big Town, who won a Grammy for Best Country/Duo Group Performance in 2018 for their recording — and duets with Phoebe Bridgers (“Nothing New”), Chris Stapleton (“I Bet You Think About Me”), and Ed Sheeran (“Run”). The highlight of these is a ten-minute version of “All Too Well,” a bitter ballad that was already one of the peaks of Red and is now turned into an epic kiss-off. This, along with excavated songs, are reason enough for Swift to revisit Red and they, not the re-recordings, are the reason to return to Red [Taylor’s Version].

The multiple Grammy Award winner Taylor Swift releases “Speak Now” (Taylor’s version) a re-release of the album “Speak Now”, which she released in 2010. The album, which was written solely by the singer, is characterized by brutal honesty and diary-like confessions. “Speak Now” (Taylor’s version) marks the third re-release of her first six studio albums. Lover (Live from Paris) is the fourth live album by American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift, released on February 14, 2023, via Republic Records. A Valentine’s Day special release, the album is a limited-edition vinyl record that was sold via Swift’s webstore exclusively. It consists of two heart-shaped LPs containing the live recordings of the eight songs from Swift’s seventh studio album, Lover (2019), that she performed at City of Lover, her one-day concert at the Olympia theater, Paris, on September 9, 2019. It charted in Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States, and topped the US Billboard Vinyl Albums chart.

We got through Midnights, through 3AM and, now, we’ve arrived at dawn. Taylor Swift unveiled a second deluxe version of her 10th studio album on Friday (May 26), titled Midnights (Til Dawn Edition). This iteration of the project features a remix of “Karma” with Ice Spice, a different version of the Lana Del Rey collaboration “Snow on the Beach,” and a never-before-heard track called “You’re Losing Me.”

Taylor Swift is in her Eras era. This morning, she released “All Of The Girls You Loved Before,” a previously unreleased Lover track, along with 3 Taylor’s Versions: “If This Was A Movie,” “Safe & Sound,” and “Eyes Open.” On “All Of The Girls,” Taylor thanks all of the girls that her current partner loved before her, because they made him who he is today. It’s a song about fate – not unlike the folklore track, “invisible string.” One of Taylor’s greatest strengths is her ability to craft a pop song with meaningful, timeless lyrics, and “All Of The Girls” is a perfect example. During the pre, she sings, “Your past and mine are parallel lines / Stars all aligned and they intertwined.” Taylor Swift is known for her skillful songwriting, but on this song, she reminds us that she is a vocalist too, and an impressive one at that. During the bridge and final chorus, she hits a breathtaking high note. (Hopefully we’ll get to hear it live on The Eras Tour!)

This rating will be strictly for the new song “All Of The Girls You Loved Before”. Taylor Swift randomly decided to drop 3 EPs for Lover, Red (TV), and Fearless (TV) full of songs from each album and one brand new song. For The More Lover Chapter Taylor decided to grab tracks 2-5 from Lover and not change up the order at all and then slapped the new song All Of The Girls You Loved Before at the end. It comes off really lazy since it’s literally back to back tracks with only one new song, like milking the streaming service notifications. Now lets talk about the new song, it really isn’t anything special and I can understand why this didn’t make the cut.

Taylor Swift just wants to stay in the “Lavender Haze,” and now she has a choice between the original Midnights edition and the newly released remix with German DJ Felix Jaehn, whose remix of Omi’s “Cheerleader” track topped charts worldwide when released in 2015.

The new version of “Lavender Haze” opens with shimmering synths and catapulting beats, courtesy of the DJ, and fills the track with giddy electronic drops. Swift originally penned the song with Zoë Kravitz and producers Sounwave, Jahaan Sweet, and Sam Dew. Braxton Cook provided additional production. “Lavender Haze” is the opening track from Swift’s tenth studio album, kicking the record off with a yearning to remain right where she is.

The first dance-ready remix comes courtesy of French DJ Kungs, with producer Jayda G helming a second, equally bouncy rendition of the ‘Midnights’ track. For his part, Kung veers ‘Anti-Hero’ firmly into EDM territory, speeding up Swift’s cadence for a breezier take on the sombre original. Jayda G, meanwhile, distorts the pop star’s vocals with the addition of shimmering synths.
