Hailed for her “generous temperament” and “agile and radiant voice”, French soprano Julie Fuchs is a rising star in the operatic world.
Named Opera Artist of the Year at the Victoires de la Musique Awards and 2nd prize winner in Operalia 2013, Ms Fuchs has an exclusive long-term contract with Universal/Deutsche Grammophon, with whom she recorded her first solo disc of French Arias with the Orchestre National de Lille in 2015: “Yes” will be released on the 11th of September 2015, with a second disc planned for 2016.

L’album se dit certes « présenté par Nathalie Manfrino », mais on y trouve d’autres stars de la scène lyrique française, à commencer par le ténor Jean-François Borras, qui voit désormais sa carrière se développer au Met de New York, à l’Opéra de Vienne, à celui de Munich, bref, les plus prestigieuses scènes planétaires. Quant à la mezzo Anaïk Morel, formée au studio de l’Opéra de Munich, on l’entend à l’Opéra National de Bordeaux, à Berlin, à la Scala, Zurich, l’Opéra National du Rhin : une belle carrière en devenir. Plus grave dans le registre, le baryton québécois Etienne Dupuis s’est déjà fait entendre à Montréal, Marseille, Strasbourg, Berlin, Glyndebourne, l’Opéra de Paris, Barcelone, et bien de belles scènes nord-américaines. Enfin, l’ « emballage » est assuré par la soprano Nathalie Manfrino qui, toutefois, se garde de se tailler la parti de la lionne dans la distribution, préférant jouer la bonne collégialité. Le programme couvre quelques-uns des airs et duos les plus célèbres de La traviata, La bohème et Carmen.

With this musical comedy composed by Reynaldo Hahn, which was a triumph for Arletty, the Palazzetto Bru Zane reveals the hectic adventures of the hatter Prosper Aubertin. He dreams of extramarital adventures, but among the replies to the classified ad he places, how surprised he is to discover letters from his wife, his daughter and his maid! The piece was Guitrys second collaboration with Hahn. What [else] do you need to be happy? as the chambermaid asks in Act Three? Veronique Gens bubbling with mischief, and the Orchestre National dAvignon dynamised by the conducting of Samuel Jean.
