“American cosmologist and astrophysicist Carl Sagan equated the Earth’s surface to the “shore” of our understanding of the vast metaphorical ocean that is our universe, and that our wading into this “ocean” allows us to begin to understand our place within it. With Nine Movements for Water, I look to remove the metaphor and examine how large bodies of water and the sensations within them allows us to understand our place in our immediate world.
