After the successful single Pa’lla Voy, now the new album of the same name by the now 53-year-old salsa superstar Marc Anthony. Also previously released: the single Mala.
And so it came to this album: Five hundred forty-six days without singing live. I came out guns blaring. I wanted to and we ended up recording, recording and recording and recording. As always, producer Sergio George and a lot of good musicians are in the lead. There are no surprises to be heard – The sound, the voice – everything as always.
The best song for me is the title song – a cover version of the big Africando hit: Yay Boy. For once, there is no ‘whining’ – the thing is simply played down strait. Cool.
Very rare with Marc Anthony: Cha Cha Cha. He is also good at this – I like to remember Quitate Tu from the 2007 album El Cantante – a cover version of a Fania song (Ok, only the first part is Cha Cha). Anyway, here on this album is Gimme Some More – and it’s one of the best songs on this album for me. Because: not schema-F!
