Aliénor was born in England in 1275, the daughter of Beatrix of England and John II, Duke of Brittany. She entered the monastery of Amesbury in 1283 at the age of eight and became abbess of Fontevraud Abbey in 1304, where she died in 1342.

A gradual bearing her coat of arms is preserved in the Limoges library; it is a richly illuminated manuscript from the second half of the 13th century. In addition to Gregorian pieces, it contains an entire repertoire of its own: sequences, prose, readings, and three polyphonic pieces for two voices.

The a cappella ensemble Vox Clamantis presents a captivating new interpretation of the Mass repertoire.
