Giuseppe Greco (Italian: [dʒuˈzɛppe ˈɡrɛːko]; 4 January 1952 – September 1985) was a hitman and high-ranking member of the Sicilian Mafia. A number of sources refer to him exclusively as Pino Greco, although Giuseppe was his Christian name; “Pino” is a frequent abbreviation of the name Giuseppe.

One of the most prolific killers in criminal history, he was affiliated to the Ciaculli mafia family, but despite his surname he was not related to the boss of Ciaculli Salvatore “Cicchiteddu” Greco nor to the boss of Croceverde-Giardini Michele Greco. His father was also a Mafioso nicknamed Scarpa (Italian for “shoe”), hence Giuseppe’s nickname of Scarpuzzedda, or “little shoe”.

Spanning the length of his mature career, Mozart’s piano sonatas were written between 1774 and 1788, and occupy a fundamental position within the keyboard repertoire.

The early sonatas were influenced by the so-called “style galant” of the Bach brothers Wilhelm Friedemann Bach and Carl Philipp Emanuel, though we hear clear references to some of the traits that characterized the keyboard music of earlier decades. In the sonatas of the late 1770s and early 1780s, we begin to hear new influences, including perhaps Haydn, and even foreshadowing the early works of Beethoven. The late sonatas were composed as the piano witnesses dramatic developments, with new mechanical and sonic solutions that gave access to new coloristic and expressive capabilities.

This collection brings together the complete sonatas, fantasies, and rondos, along with the Adagio K. 540, giving us a complete vision of Mozart’s pianistic and compositional career.

The entire collection is masterfully interpreted by Italian pianist Giuseppe Greco through a reading that is crisp in detail and wide-ranging in moods.

“Listening to Giuseppe Greco in live performances, I found his sound to be warm and full. His technical brilliance is not superficial, but always serving the music’s expression and meaning.” (Bruno Canino)
