Al Green collection, compiling all of the Hi Record singles, plus 5 bonus tracks. The story of Al Green’s recordings at Hi Records is the story of a family learning to communicate. It’s the story of blood brothers – Charles Leroy and Teenie Hodges – and the story of soul brothers – Albert Greene, Willie Mitchell, Hubby Mitchell and Howard Grimes. Plus a horn section. And backing vocalists. And strings and others too, including us – the audience – as we fall in love with the groove they fell into. This 3 album set compiles together all of 26 singles, both A and B sides, that Al Green recorded for Hi from 1969 until 1978. Also included are five bonus tracks that have found huge favour among fans but did not originally feature as singles.

Upon its original release in 1975, Al Green’s Greatest Hits pretty much summed up everything about Green, containing his ten biggest hits up to that point. A few years later, it was followed by a second volume, which contained hit singles that had charted since the release of the first collection. In 1995, The Right Stuff reissued Al Green’s Greatest Hits, adding five of the highlights from the second volume of greatest hits as bonus tracks. The result was a definitive single-disc compilation, featuring 15 of Green’s absolute best songs, including “Tired of Being Alone,” “Let’s Stay Together,” “I’m Still in Love With You,” “Call Me,” “Here I Am,” “Sha-La-La (Make Me Happy),” and “L-O-V-E (Love).” The original version of Greatest Hits was great, but the revision made it nearly perfect.

Archival recordings from Al Green, accompanied by new orchestral arrangements. Produced by Darren Tate and mixed by Boo Mitchell (Willie Mitchell’s son) and Clay Jones, Give Me More Love: The Orchestral Greatest Hits was mixed at Royal Studios in Memphis – where it all began. For this recording, the innovative and award-winning FAME’s Macedonian Symphony Orchestra went into a studio to record orchestral arrangements to some of Al Green’s most cherished hits while retaining the 70s soulful essence and feel of the original recordings.
