As “the pianist, who came in from the Cold” Sergey Tanin became well-known for the European audience after the documentary about his life path was released by the Swiss television (SRF). The international career of Sergey started in 2018 at the Geza Anda Competition, where he became laureate and the Audience Prizewinner for his interpretation of J. Brahms´ first piano concerto with Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich.

With his “…excellent, pure and honest piano playing, which reminds of the values of the great Russian piano school…” (Geza Anda Jury notes), he possesses a wide repertoire from Rameau and Bach, major composers of the classical and romantic era till contemporary music by leading figures such as Larcher and Ades.

Among the highlights of the season 2022-2023 are debuts in Paris (Salle Gaveau) and Basel (Stadtcasino, Rising Stars series) as well as in Bregenz (Bregenzer Festspiele) and St. Moritz (Engadin Piano Festival). In addition to the solo recitals, Sergey devotes himself for chamber music and will perform in the upcoming season with artists such as Michael Barenboim (musicaAndeer Festival) and Felix Renggli (Chamber Music festival in Basel). The new CD with works of Robert Schumann will be released by Prospero Classical in spring 2023.

In tribute to Sergei Rachmaninoff’s 150 anniversary, Sergey will perform the third piano concerto in Tonhalle Zürich in January 2023. In March, European channel 3Sat will broadcast the documentary “My Rachmaninoff” about Rachmaninoff´s time in Switzerland and his Villa Senar on Lake Lucerne, where Sergey plays the Six Moments Musicaux on the composer´s grand piano and speaks about his relation to Rachmaninoff´s life and work.
