Alongside new versions by Valery Gergiev and Sr Andrew Davis, this might seem in danger of being overwhelmed. Robin Ticciatti, though, has proved to be a special Berlioz interpreter, and offers an individual, youthful reading: swifter, airy rather than lush, driven by crisp detail and translucent textures and Berlioz’s vital rhythmic spring. In the pivotal Love Scene and ‘Queen Mab’ scherzo Ticciati seems much more intimate and delicate than the rival alternatives, although he unleashes appropriate power in ‘Tumulte’, for example, and the conclusion.

« A thoughtful chill runs through the music of Benoît Delbecq, a French pianist of investigative temperament and crystalline technique. There’s a ton of compressed energy in his playing, but he projects an unflappable calm ». These lines from the New York Times in 2010 by jazz critic Nate Chinen offer a pertinent description of Delbecq’s music. Delbecq is a multi-awarded Parisian pianist and composer, a type-setter who persists in developing his ideas among which a very rhythmic approach that brings the soul of jazz to John Cage’s prepared piano. Delbecq may prepare just a few strings with wood sticks then sit at the piano become a percussion-and-piano ensemble. Delbecq is curious with sound, the rhythm of prose, and mutating loops of sound fabrics. His musical thrust continues to weave some outstanding and compelling tapestries for our delight.

Released in the Britten anniversary year, Richard Farnes, the Music Director of Opera North who led their critically acclaimed production of ‘The Turn of the Screw’ in 2010, conducts an all-English cast in Britten’s most ingeniously crafted opera, including Andrew Kennedy, Sally Matthews, and 11-year old Michael Clayton-Jolly in the role of Miles.
Originally scheduled to be conducted by Sir Colin Davis, Richard Farnes was the natural replacement, himself having been mentored by the late conductor.
In 1932, the 18-year-old Britten heard on the radio ‘a wonderful, impressive but terribly eerie and scary play ‘The Turn of the Screw’ by Henry James.’ Britten’s version of the ghost story, premiered in 1954, is a chamber opera in a prologue and two acts. The opera tells the story of a Governess and a housekeeper, Mrs Grose, who vow to protect two children, Miles and Flora, from the strange happenings that occur in the grounds of their English country house.

The music video begins with the title “Into You” on the screen with a desert background. Several shots of Grande are shown of her in the desert, while others show her riding on the back of a motorcycle with the guest star Don Benjamin. The video continues with them being together and then entering a motel titled “Honeymoon Inn”. Various shots show the two hanging out and being playful inside and out the motel. The video switches to Grande being in a party filled with other people and a man who may represent one of her ex-boyfriends or her husband. In the party, Grande is interested in other things but the man pulls her arm and she unwillingly smiles at the cameras. Grande and Benjamin, who is apparently one of the man’s bodyguards, make eye contact while Grande sees the other man kiss and hug other women. Grande then gets up and leaves with Benjamin following behind her. They then stay together after the party and the video concludes with Grande riding on the back of a motorcycle with Benjamin as shown in the beginning.

Mock Tudor is the ninth studio album by Richard Thompson. Released in 1999, it was his final album released by Capitol Records. For this, his fifth album for Capitol, Thompson teamed up with producers Tom Rothrock and Rob Schnapf, and Mock Tudor had a more straightforward production than his preceding albums on Capitol which had been produced by Mitchell Froom. In this album Thompson draws predominantly on the musical styles of 1960s England—the time and place of his youth. The lyrics have a nostalgic tinge and are rich with allusion to fairy tales and children’s books as well as to Shakespeare and T. S. Eliot.
