Born into a musical family, Laura Moinian gave her first concert at the young age of six. She started studying the cello intensively when she was eight years old and has been rewarded over the years with numerous national and international awards and prizes. She is among the very few young cellists who are represented by the agency Tonalisten. This year she published her 2. CD “Cello Shadows” as a soloist with the Bratislava symphony orchestra. Her first CD “Inside Out” in collaboration with Jamie Bergin, concert pianist and assistant of Lars Vogt was published in 2016. Laura performed at the Kronberg Festival, Marrinsky Theatre St. Petersburg, Prinzregententheather München, Fränkische Musiktage and at the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg. She also made her Debut at a sold out Laeiszhalle with the Shostakovich cello concerto nr. 1
In march 2019 she won the audition of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra where she got a contract until 2022.
From 01. december 2021 she will start playing as the principal cellist of Mozarteum Orchester Salzburg.

The Sibyls, figures of the archaic era, successively haunted the imagination of the Greeks and the Romans. Link between the human world and the divine world, the Christian West attributes to them the prophetic announcement of the birth of the Savior. They inspired Roland de Lassus with a cycle of 13 songs, the Prophetiae Sibyllarum, an extraordinary cycle of novelty for the time. This musical monument is still too little known today. From these polyphonic miniatures tinged with chromaticism rises a feeling of strangeness mixed with mysticism. Written in Munich while the composer was in the service of Duke Albert of Bavaria, they are a masterpiece of the Musical Renaissance. Exclusive property of the Duke, they remained secret for many years until their edition in 1600.

In the monastic life of the Cistercian order, as in the case of the female monastery of Santa María la Real de Las Huelgas (Burgos), a royal pantheon, the seat of coronations and the epicentre of a very intense musical life in which singing played an extremely important part, the nuns were called upon to live a life of simplicity, silence, prayer and contemplation. Flavit auster, which is part of the Las Huelgas Codex, is a Marian text inspired in the Song of Songs in which the most powerful symbols of femininity appear, such as the honeycomb, milk and honey, and protectiveness described as “mother of mercy, port of hope for the shipwrecked and virgin mother purified.” We also find these symbols as early as the 9th century in Islamic and Jewish spirituality where we are taught the nature of the journey within, a path of challenges, knowledge, of the soul’s encounter and union with God. As St Teresa writes, “see this shining castle and this beautiful Oriental pearl, this tree of life which is planted in the very living waters of life.”
