Ivan Ronda studied under Maestro Luigi Toja at the Giuseppe Nicolini Conservatory in Piacenza, graduating with the highest distinction in piano, organ, harpsichord, choral and orchestral conducting; he also received an honorary diploma of merit on completion of his eighth year of advanced study and went on to attend masterclasses in piano and organ, notably with the great French virtuoso Jean Guillou. Central to his repertory are the great works of J S Bach, Mozart, Reger and Liszt.
In 2004 Ivan Ronda founded the Trio Barocco (with soprano Emi Aikawa and baroque trumpeter Alberto Bardelloni), touring as far afield as Japan and the USA; the ensemble has recorded a CD of music by Galuppi, Sacrlatti, Bach, Purcell, Viviani and Handel for the label, Sheva Collection. Ivan Ronda has toured prestigious venues in the United Kingdom, performing at King’s College and St John’s College, Cambridge, St Paul’s Cathedral, Westminster Abbey, Westminster Cathedral, St Chad’s Cathedral, Birmingham and Coventry Cathedral.

Did not give up on sexist lyrics, but the sound of classic RnR moved towards hard Rock, and it was quite solid. By the title of the song, you will be able to read the content. The Esterházy princes’ love of hunting prompted their ‘house composer’ Joseph Haydn to make extensive use of the horn. At the time, this was still the hand horn (Waldhorn), limited to ‘natural’ harmonics, since it did not yet have valves. Between 1761 and 1790 there were a total eighteen horn players in princely service, but no trumpeters! So, in his Symphony no.48 of 1769, for example, Haydn used the horns as ‘replacement trumpets’, instructing them to play an octave higher than usual. The horns strike a flamboyant note in Haydn’s symphonies, which is probably why an anonymous copyist of no.59 dubbed it the ‘Fire’ Symphony. The Symphony no.31 ‘Horn Signal’ (1765) gives its name to this thirteenth volume in the Haydn2032 Edition. The four horns ring out majestically and the musicians of Il Giardino Armonico perform this music in their characteristically impetuous style, under the fiery direction of Giovanni Antonini.

Kei Ozone was born the second son of pianist/organist Minoru Ozone, who contributed greatly to the development of the Kansai jazz scene, and grew up in a jazz family with his older brother Makoto Ozone.
After graduating from Berklee College of Music in 1985, he has been active in his hometown of Kobe, where he has mainly trained younger musicians, and has now produced his first solo album.
The album was produced by Makoto Ozone, who had long recognised the saxophonist’s talent for composing and had been urging him to produce an album for many years, and he also fully participates in the performances. The album is backed by Nakamura Kengo and Takahashi Sinnosuke, the ironclad rhythm section of the No Name Horses, a big band led by Ozone Makoto.

Warm Leatherette represents a watershed moment in the career of Grace Jones. It was the first of her much loved and critically-lauded ‘Compass Point trilogy’ and also very much a leap into the unknown when it was released on Island Records in May 1980. At that time, Jones had a reputation as a disco-diva second to none, a fact underlined by her first three Island albums (Fame, Portfolio and Muse). But, by the end of the 70s, disco was over. It was time to move on.
This is a beautiful newly-remastered collection, bringing together the entire Warm Leatherette album, b-sides and rare in-era mixes and instrumental versions (to fit the album on to the 39 minutes prescribed for vinyl at the time, a considerable amount of editing had to be done). It is a perfect demonstration of players, writers, producers, at the very apex of their game, headed up by the most singular performer, singing as if her life depended on it.

Following the cool reception to Insomniac, Green Day retreated from the spotlight for a year to rest and spend time with their families. During that extended break, they decided to not worry about their supposedly lost street credibility and make an album according to their instincts, which meant more experimentation and less of their trademark punk-pop. Of course, speedy, catchy punk is at the core of the group’s sound, so there are plenty of familiar moments on the resultant album, Nimrod, but there are also new details that make the record an invigorating, if occasionally frustrating, listen. Although punk-pop is Green Day’s forte, they sound the most alive on Nimrod when they’re breaking away from their formula, whether it’s the shuffling “Hitchin’ a Ride,” the bitchy, tongue-in-cheek humor of “The Grouch,” the surging surf instrumental “Last Ride In,” the punchy, horn-driven drag-queen saga “King for a Day,” or the acoustic, string-laced ballad “Good Riddance.” It’s only when the trio confines itself to three chords that it sounds tired, but Billie Joe has such a gift for hooky, instantly memorable melodies that even these moments are enjoyable, if unremarkable. Still, Nimrod suffers from being simply too much — although it clocks in at under 50 minutes, the 18 tracks whip by at such a breakneck speed that it leaves you somewhat dazed. With a little editing, Green Day’s growth would have been put in sharper relief, and Nimrod would have been the triumphant leap forward it set out to be. As it stands, it’s a muddled but intermittently exciting record that is full of promise.

Green Day have announced that they will be re-releasing their 1995 album Insomniac for its 25th anniversary. The re-release includes a double album being a remastered of the original master tapes. Also featuring live tracks from their 1996 show in Prague.
Led by the lead single, “Geek Stink Breath”, the band’s fourth studio set reached No. 2 on the US Billboard 200 on its way to sales of more than 2 million copies in the country.
Insomniac is the fourth studio album by American rock band Green Day, released on October 10, 1995 by Reprise Records. It was recorded at Hyde Street in San Francisco, and the band prioritized high-energy takes during the recording sessions. Released as the follow-up to the band’s multi-platinum breakthrough Dookie, Insomniac featured a heavier and more “punk” sound, and bleaker lyrics than its predecessor. Lyrically, the album discusses themes such as alienation, anxiety, boredom, and drug use. Insomniac also served as a reaction to many early fans who had turned their backs on the band after it achieved mainstream success with Dookie.
