If there’s one thing you can rely on in the wild world of rock’n’roll, it’s that Neil Young never ceases to surprise his listeners. In the last 55 years, in which he has released albums, this is a constant. On his new album “Before And After”, Young approaches a completely eclectic collection of mostly obscure songs like a painter approaches a new color palette.

From a wide range of his originals, Young selects favorites from his playbook, like a journey into his music history, and usually performs them alone, taking a solo acoustic journey to a new place. The individual songs merge into each other and form a continuous flow that adds up to a 48-minute, pure and intimate listening experience. Produced by Lou Adler and Neil Young and mixed by Young and Niko Bolas, aka The Volume Dealers, this album is unlike any other he has released so far.
