This is the second volume of works by Maurice Ravel from Leonard Slatkin and the Lyon National Orchestra, featuring the composer’s Valses nobles et sentimentales, a vivid mixture of atmospheric impressionism, intense expression and modernist wit. Ravel’s fascination with the waltz is further explored in La valse, a mysterious evocation of a vanished imperial epoch.
