Leading an all-star big band composed of some of the most talent musicians from the new breed of the French jazz scene, composer and arranger Laurent Cugny is back leading a new orchestra to celebrate the spirit and the music of his mentor, the legendary Gil Evans. Bringing back to the light some of Evans’ classics as well as interpreting new arrangements especially written for that band, Cugny releases a stunning double album which confirms that, 30 years after their collaboration, he is the principal disciple of Miles Davis’ most famous arranger. A la tête d’un big band en forme de all-stars de la nouvelle génération du jazz hexagonal, l’arrangeur et compositeur Laurent Cugny revient à la musique en célébrant l’esprit et l’œuvre de son mentor Gil Evans. Entre classiques revisités et nouveau répertoire, il signe avec son « orchestre atelier » un double album éblouissant qui confirme que, trente ans après leur collaboration, il reste le principal héritier en Europe de l’arrangeur attitré de Miles Davis.
