A pianist with a great temperament and overwhelming musicality, Loredana Brigandì is a virtuoso who unites excellent interpretative elegance with an extraordinary technique that allows her to navigate the greatest difficulties of the keyboard.
As a precocious talent, she approached the study of the piano at the age of six. At nine was admitted to the Conservatory “F. Cilea” in Reggio Calabria, which she attended until 1979. She then moved to Rome where she graduated in 1982 from the Conservatory of “S.Cecilia” with full marks under the guidance of Francesco Martucci, a pupil of the great Napoleatan teacher Vincenzo Vitale.
She specialized with Sergio Perticaroli, in both Rome and at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, and with Maria Curcio in London. During the years of specialization, she simultaneously carried out an intense concert and didactic activity, having been assigned the Chair of Piano at the “F. Cilea” Conservatory of Reggio Calabria at the age of nineteen, and the invitation to hold several Masters Classes.

This is Lucile Boulanger’s first solo recital. The French gambist, universally praised for her natural and moving playing – BBC Music Magazine even described her as ‘the Jacqueline du Pré of the viola da gamba’ – juxtaposes Bach with Carl Friedrich Abel, a great master of the bass viol and a close friend of the Bach family. Although Johann Sebastian never wrote for solo viola da gamba, we know that he transcribed many of his works for other instruments. So Lucile Boulanger has chosen, for example, to transcribe three dances from the Sixth Suite, ‘because it sounds particularly good on the viol, being written for five-stringed cello (a step towards the six or seven strings of the viol?). It is in D, the viol key par excellence, and its style, already somewhat galant , is reminiscent of Abel… This album gives me the opportunity to showcase the viol as both a melodic instrument – with the grain of the bow, the fragility of tone – and a polyphonic one.’

J.S. Bach’s son Johann Christian arrived in London in 1762, and with his fellow composer Carl Friedrich Abel established a series of prestigious concerts that ran for 17 years. Music heard at the Bach-Abel recitals is surveyed on this intriguing album by the Swiss ensemble Les Ombres. The sprightly Quartet in D Major by J.C. Bach, two pensive pieces for bass viol by Abel, and a charmingly Mozartian Harpsichord Quintet by Johann Samuel Schröter are among the highlights, and three of Haydn’s numerous arrangements of Scottish songs are brightly sung by mezzo-soprano Fiona McGown. Les Ombres play on period instruments, imparting an extra tang to this fascinating slice of aural history.

Vocalists/multi-instrumentalists Claus Lessmann and Michael Voss, who also produces acts such as Michael Schenker: a combination that makes rock fans sit up immediately. Considering the pair’s various collaborations – lately as members of Phantom V – spread over several decades, “Rock Is Our Religion” is way more than a debut. The album, which was recorded and produced by Voss at German Kidwood Studios Münstertal and Kidroom Studios Greven (only Vincent Golly’s drums were tracked by Mathi Brandstetter at Home Studios Hamburg, Germany), rather is a relevation, a bow down to genuine rock packed in 49 minutes of handmade music performed to the point. Lessmann and Voss complement each other over these 12 tracks as if they hadn’t done anything else before: from mysteriously starting opener “Medicine Man” to lead single “Smoke Without A Fire”, the recording of “Take My Heart And Run”, circling back to one of their earlier songwriting co-operations in the 90s, and the duo’s interpretation of America’s 1975 hit song “Sister Golden Hair” (ft. Kenny Lessmann on drums and Martin Huch on pedal steel guitar), this album impressively shows that it still doesn’t need many frills to create impactful heavy music nowadays. Amen!

As a one-of-a kind company, standing at the crossroads between musical, lyrical and theatrical worlds, Les Monts du Reuil specialises in the forgotten treasures of French opera. Here, it offers a distinctively rare program centred around the fables of La Fontaine, which unearthes two comic operas based on the works of the fabulist: Le Magnifique [The Magnificent] by André Grétry and L’Éclipse totale [The Total Eclipse] by Nicolas Dalayrac, which was reconstructed for the occasion, and recorded here for the first time. In their selection of the tastiest excerpts alternating from a small aria to a duet or a horse-racing brass fanfare, the musicians highlight the refinement, lightness and humor typically found in French lyrical art from this era. Adding to this are six arias “in the spirit of La Fontaine” by Clérambault and Desessarts, originally intended for children and directly inspired by well-known fables. We thus find the everlasting characters of the Crow and the Fox, the Frog and the Ox and also the Wolf and the Lamb. The soprano Jeanne Zaeffpel, born actress and lyrical partner to the late Peter Brook, lends her voice to these various and whimsical figures. Her tone varies from candid (The Wolf and the Lamb) to mocking (The Crow and the Fox) or exultant (“Quoi, ce billet vient de Léandre”) [What? A note from Léandre] and finally remains full of grace in the arias “Amour, bannis ma crainte” [Love, banish my fear] and “Astre des nuits” [Star of nights].

LionSoul are a power metal band from Italy, formed in 2009, releasing their debut album ‘Omega’ in 2013, with the bands sophomore album ‘Welcome Storm’ released in 2017. The band have toured across Europe, performing with the likes of Gamma Ray, Iron Savior, and Tygers Of Pan Tang. Los Indios Tabajaras was a guitar duo of two brothers from Ceará, in the Northeast of Brazil.
Probably as early as 1943, RCA’s Latin American arm signed them to a recording contract. In the early 1950s, they took a break from performing and went back to study the guitar. After returning to the stage later that same decade, they released an album in the United States on an RCA-owned label named Vox.
Throughout this period, they had a steady stream of releases on RCA in Mexico and one of these, a Mexican popular tune named “María Elena”, became a steady seller, a success throughout Latin America and was finally released on a single in the U.S. in 1963. It spent 14 weeks on the Hot 100 in the fall of 1963.
RCA released albums by Los Indios Tabajaras into the 1980s.

Im Jahr 1671 wurde die Königsberger Dichterin Gertraud Möller von dem Pegnesischen Blumenorden zur »poeta laureata« gekrönt und unter die Mitglieder des Dichterordens aufgenommen. Die gekrönte Dichterin nutzte die Gelegenheit und stellte eine umfangreiche Sammlung ihrer Werke zusammen, die in zwei Bänden unter dem Titel Parnaß-Blumen in Wolfenbüttel gedruckt und in Hamburg herausgegeben wurden. Das Besondere an diesem prachtvollen Werk ist, dass die Gedichte in ihrer Vertonung für eine bis fünf Stimmen mit Instrumentalbegleitung in Partitur gedruckt sind. Die insgesamt 127 Kompositionen stammen zum größten Teil von dem Königsberger Komponisten Johann Sebastiani.
