Al Green collection, compiling all of the Hi Record singles, plus 5 bonus tracks. The story of Al Green’s recordings at Hi Records is the story of a family learning to communicate. It’s the story of blood brothers – Charles Leroy and Teenie Hodges – and the story of soul brothers – Albert Greene, Willie Mitchell, Hubby Mitchell and Howard Grimes. Plus a horn section. And backing vocalists. And strings and others too, including us – the audience – as we fall in love with the groove they fell into. This 3 album set compiles together all of 26 singles, both A and B sides, that Al Green recorded for Hi from 1969 until 1978. Also included are five bonus tracks that have found huge favour among fans but did not originally feature as singles.

Upon its original release in 1975, Al Green’s Greatest Hits pretty much summed up everything about Green, containing his ten biggest hits up to that point. A few years later, it was followed by a second volume, which contained hit singles that had charted since the release of the first collection. In 1995, The Right Stuff reissued Al Green’s Greatest Hits, adding five of the highlights from the second volume of greatest hits as bonus tracks. The result was a definitive single-disc compilation, featuring 15 of Green’s absolute best songs, including “Tired of Being Alone,” “Let’s Stay Together,” “I’m Still in Love With You,” “Call Me,” “Here I Am,” “Sha-La-La (Make Me Happy),” and “L-O-V-E (Love).” The original version of Greatest Hits was great, but the revision made it nearly perfect.

Inspiration comes from many sources. For legendary drummer Al Foster, it stems from the two groups of people who are closest to him: the jazz giants he’s been honored to play with (and who, though he’d be the last to admit it, have been blessed to work with him); and, first and foremost, his family. On his latest album, Inspirations & Dedications, Foster pays back his loved ones and collaborators with a set of songs written or interpreted in their honor.

Imagine you could send your current favorite rock record on a journey through time and into the past – what would it sound like? That’s exactly what A Life Divided had in mind when creating their new album “Echoes” – 13 songs that combine the band’s dark alternative rock with the zeitgeist of the 80s. After German radio hits like “Feel”, “Space” or “Heart on Fire”, an award for the best newcomer, provided by one of the biggest radio stations in Germany, tours with Apocalyptica, Eisbrecher, Unheilig and Oomph as well as sold out headliner club tours, it is without a doubt that A Life Divided and their blend of rock music with electronic elements are known across all scenes. The band currently consists of vocalist and songwriter Jürgen Plangger (also guitarist for Eisbrecher), guitarist Tony Berger (ex-Lacrimas Profundere) and bass player Tobias Egger as well as songwriter Erik Damköhler.

Alice Carreri loves the dusty vintage feel of an ever sparkling jazz tune. She induced in her singing an ever changing interpretation of the sophisticated jazz gems of past times. When composing however, she calls upon everything from Kavinsky to Bacharach to lift the spirit of the beholder and the roof has been known to come flying off.
This quartet will surely make you feel as though you were sitting at a sidewalk cafe in Paris or enjoying a mild summer evening at an Italian seaside restaurant.

Girlpool – Forgiveness (2022)
FLAC (tracks) 24 bit/88,2 kHz | Time – 41:34 minutes | 791 MB | Genre: Indie Rock
Studio Masters, Official Digital Download | Front Cover | © Anti – Epitaph
Forgiveness is the brand new full-length Girlpool album, which finds the duo embracing weirdo-pop decadence without sacrificing the poetic curiosity that has always made their music so absorbing. Just like they did for What Chaos Is Imaginary, Harmony and Avery each wrote their Forgiveness songs separately, then came together to decide how to present them in a style that felt representative of what excites and inspires them now. This time, the process resulted in their slickest and most ambitious music to date, filled with idiosyncratic and provocative gestures that simultaneously support and complicate the emotionally intricate material. With it’s unique blend of introspective earworms and surreal party music, Forgiveness reaches beyond the loosely sketched parameters of “indie rock,” challenging any preconceived notions of what a Girlpool album can or should be. “Faultline” the album’s first single, is an effective introduction to the world of Forgiveness; the notion of straddling a fault line feels somewhat indicative of Forgiveness on the whole. These songs investigate the always-shifting boundaries between a number of elementally human concepts: pain and pleasure, sex and love, reality and delusion, insecurity and confidence, grief and growth. To support their vision of a sound at the intersection of Hollywood futurism and post-grunge sincerity, Girlpool enlisted help from producer Yves Rothman (Yves Tumor, Miya Folick).

GARN these are the threads Meier, Stucki, Mueller, Steiner and Müller. What a crazy texture! Yarn! If you listen to the individual thread fabrication of Garn, you are amazed at the weave and weave, the colour nuances and the diversity that each individual of the band Garn brings to this formation. The weave of the band Garn guarantees a surprising thread live with every musical weave presented. Musically, anything is possible in this band. There is loose and relaxed weaving, musical threads are picked up and mixed, outrageous what Garn allows themselves. Musically freshly designed colours, textures and lengths of threads become a brilliantly luminous weave that continuously dissolves and comes together in the course of the concert evening to form a further and surprising texture. Garn carries this onto the stage in a relaxed manner with great musical skill, taking care that the threads and weaves wound into the ears of the audience trigger pleasurable well-being. It tickles and warms and sometimes the ears no longer trust themselves and wiggle good-humouredly.

FLAC (tracks) 24 bit/192 kHz | Time – 31:11 minutes | 1,16 GB | Genre: Rock, Rock & Roll
Studio Masters, Official Digital Download | Front Cover | © Epic – Legacy
The phenomenal success of the movie American Graffiti spawned renewed interest in ’50s and ’60s rock & roll. Sha-Na-Na became the most prominent of the oldies bands, but it was Flash Cadillac and the Continental Kids who both appeared in that influential film and on its soundtrack (with the delightful “She’s So Fine,” also included on this, their debut album).
Where Sha-Na-Na slavishly recreated ’50s music, Flash Cadillac conveyed more of the wild abandon of early rock & roll attitude, whether covering familiar oldies or newer material. The choice of covers is inspired, and the performances are uniformly excellent. By capturing an authentic feel, Flash Cadillac makes familiar material like “Pipeline” and “Endless Sleep” sound fresh. The elegant Brill Building pop of “Crying In the Rain” and the movie track, “She’s So Fine,” ashowcase their tight vocal harmonies, while two originals by piano player Kris “Angelo” Moe fit in seamlessly with the cover songs, demonstrating real, skilled pop songcraft.
From the opening blast of “Muleskinner Blues,” Flash and the Kids establish that their approach isn’t sedate or polite. Where Sha-Na-Na was the cartoon version of the archetypal oldies rock & roll group, Flash Cadillac was the J.D. B-movie equivalent.
