Their recording of the “American” Quartet and String Quartet No. 13, Op. 106, elevated the Pavel Haas Quartet among the finest performers of Antonín Dvořák’s music. This position was subsequently confirmed by a recording of the composer’s Quintets, made with the violist Pavel Nikl, a founding member of the ensemble, and the pianist Boris Giltburg, winner of the Queen Elisabeth Competition. The album received the most coveted classical music accolades (Gramophone Chamber Award, BBC Radio 3 Record Review Discs of the Year, Diapason d’Or, etc.).

Piano: Vegard L. Bjerkan En mørk blond og mystisk herre fra Selbu. Enkelte hevder at han er en absolutt villmann på keyboardet. Fingrene er i allefall det. Villmenn. I tillegg en stor framsnakker av knappspell og torader.
Kontrabass: Morten B. Stai. Tidligere hockeyproff, nå profesjonell musiker (bassist) med fordypning «spille surt med vilje». Bosatt på Palestinsk område avd. Tyholt. Glad i falaffel og kvinter.
Trommer: Stian Lundberg. Skapjazzer fra Ranheim, med dragning mot flate åttendeler og fotball. Hever snittalderen noe. Henter inspirasjon fra turer i skog og mark.

From the great French Couperin family of musicians, two in particular are still known today. Louis Couperin had a fleeting existence that passed through the 17th century like a shooting star He died in 1661 at the age of only 35. His nephew François Couperin was born in 1668, exactly one year after the harpsichord that was the inspiration for the replica used in this recording was built. He spent his life between Paris and Versailles, was organist at St-Gervais and the Chapelle Royale, and a well-known pedagogue

His harpsichord works, in which he liked to portray those around him, made him immortal.

“It is with the utmost excitement and joy that we can announce that we will be releasing a brand new album on May 13. We couldn’t be more proud of it and look forward to you hearing it!” reads the announcement on Bear’s Den’s Facebook page. The joy is all ours.

Because after the British indie-folk band last released its album “Fragments” in 2020, for which it worked with composer and arranger Paul Frith to give some of its songs a new interpretation, it returns with new songs in 2022. “Blue Hours” is the name of the fourth album by the duo consisting of Andrew Davie (vocals, guitar) and Kevin Jones (vocals, drums).

Davie described the new work as follows: “‘Blue Hours’ is kind of an imaginary space you go to at night, a place where you process difficult things or where you try to figure it all out.”

Georges Brassens avait compris, bien avant les autres, le talent de cette « dame brune » en lui offrant une place auprès de lui à Bobino, du 23 octobre au 10 novembre 1964.
Quelques années auparavant, elle a obtenu le Grand Prix du Disque de l’Académie Charles-Cros 1960 en enregistrant « Barbara chante Brassens », dans la catégorie de la « Meilleure interprétation ». « Barbara chante Brassens », est le deuxième album de chansons enregistrées en studio par la chanteuse. L’édition originale est sortie en France, en 1960.
A ce propos l’Humanité titrera « Un faux pas de Brassens et une prouesse de Barbara ». Georges Brassens n’en prendra pas ombrage.

Haydn’s 30 piano trios were written at a time when the harpsichord was being replaced by the pianoforte and when a parallel change saw the emergence of sonata-allegro form. His earliest trios, such as the Trio in F major, Hob. XV:40, were also known as “Divertimentos” or “Partitas”, whilst the Trio in G major, Hob. XV:15, was part of a group that offers the performer the alternative scoring of flute over the more usual violin. They reflect the airy and nimble qualities that grace all of Haydn’s works in the genre.

The double album features the guitar legend live at the 11th annual Jarasum International Jazz Festival in Gapyeong-Gun, South Korea, on 5 October 2014.

For this performance, Holdsworth was joined by acclaimed drummer and longtime accompanist Gary Husband and renowned five-string bassist Jimmy Haslip, known for his work with the Yellowjackets. The bassist also wrote the liner notes for the set, based on his personal memories of performing with Holdsworth and Husband, and can also be heard in an interview included as a bonus on the DVD.
