Pink Floyd followed the commercial breakthrough of Dark Side of the Moon with Wish You Were Here, a loose concept album about and dedicated to their founding member Syd Barrett. The record unfolds gradually, as the jazzy textures of “Shine on You Crazy Diamond” reveal its melodic motif, and in its leisurely pace, the album shows itself to be a warmer record than its predecessor. Musically, it’s arguably even more impressive, showcasing the group’s interplay and David Gilmour’s solos in particular. And while it’s short on actual songs, the long, winding soundscapes are constantly enthralling.

This is Telarc’s first Stereo / Multichannel SACD sampler. It offers a wide variety of Jazz and Classical selections recorded in Analog, PCM and DSD so it made for an interesting comparison of the three main types of recording.
From the liner notes on level differences on this Telarc Sampler SACD: “Our goal in compiling this sampler was to present the listener with a variety of differing approaches to creating a surround sound experience, using various musical examples.
The Selections included in this SACD are presented with no alternation in overall level or dynamic range from the original masters. The apparent levels, therefore differ greatly from track to track. Telarc’s masters are optimized for maximum peak levels during the recording sessions and subsequent mastering. When we attempted to match the relative volume between these tracks, we found it significantly degraded the sonic integrity of the original masters, resulting in out decision to leave them alone.
To make it easier to play these unleveled tracks, we chose to group them from loudest to softest. There is roughly a 45 percent difference in apparent level from the first track to the last so you will undoubtedly want to increase the volume as you play through the disc.”
All tracks are Telarc recordings with the exception of Tracks 3 and 4 which are from their sister label Heads Up.

Va bene, va bene così è il primo album live del cantautore italiano Vasco Rossi uscito nel 1984.
Inizialmente doveva essere un doppio CD e contenere due inediti (oltre a Va bene, va bene così, avrebbe dovuto anche essere presente T’immagini, poi pubblicato nel successivo album Cosa succede in città).
La canzone che dà il titolo all’album è stata registrata in studio (con parole di Vasco Rossi e musica di Roberto Casini e Domenico Camporeale e la chitarra suonata da Dodi Battaglia, chitarrista dei Pooh).
È stato l’album più venduto in quell’anno.
Il brano omonimo è stato ripreso nel 1994 da Mina, nel disco Canarino mannaro.
Da questo album entra a far parte della Band il bassista Claudio Golinelli, detto “Il Gallo”.
L’album uscì in un periodo abbastanza burrascoso per Vasco che ad aprile, fu arrestato dai Carabinieri di Bologna per spaccio e detenzione di sostanze stupefacenti, e fu rinchiuso in isolamento al carcere di Rocca Costanza di Pesaro, venendo comunque scarcerato, per poi prendere la strada della disintossicazione dalle droghe.

These CDs serve their purpose well offering complete movements or sections of recordings available on Pentatone. The only listing of contents is on the back jewel-box cover; the booklet(s) are actually catalogs of what is available in the format. Each CD is given a full page in the booklet with complete track listings and performer informtion. I’m surprised each of the CD booklets doesn’t list all of the multi-channel recordings (both new and RQR) on the label. One features excerpts from new multi-channel recordings; the most impressive sonically are those by the Concertgebouw Chamber Orchestra, New Dutch Academy, Russian National Orchestra and the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra Dvorak/Tchaikovsky coupling. All of these are 5 channel recordings (left/right, front and rear, and center front).
