A concert celebrating the end of an era: The Beatles opened it and Billy Joel closed it. Built in 1964, Shea Stadium was the home of the New York Mets for 45 years. Designed as a multi-purpose stadium, Shea first met rock ‘n’ roll when The Beatles appeared there August 15, 1965, establishing Shea as the premier stadium for the world’s greatest bands. The Who, The Police, The Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen and The Clash all played Shea.
The Last Play At Shea, staged on July 16 and July 18, 2008 before a combined 110,000 fans, comprised the final performances ever at the historic stadium. Live At Shea Stadium contains two and a half hours of hits and album favorites, featuring special guests Paul McCartney, Tony Bennett, Garth Brooks, John Mayer, John Mellencamp, Steven Tyler and Roger Daltrey.
Live At Shea Stadium captures the music and memories of a generation. After 45 years, the Mets’ two World Series victories, The Beatles and The Last Play At Shea, the final section of Shea Stadium was torn down in 2009.

Stone and Steel documents Big Big Train’s return to live performance after many years as a writing and recording band. Released on Blu-Ray and high-definition download, Stone and Steel features performances of nine songs recorded live at Real World studios in August 2014 and four songs recorded live at the band’s London gigs in August 2015 alongside interview and documentary footage. Big Big Train is an English progressive rock band, founded in 1990 based in Bournemouth, England. Having released eight studio albums and three EPs, they were an independent band for most of their career distributing releases through their own website. Up to 2009, Big Big Train worked mostly as a studio project band headed by Spawton and Poole with changing line-ups and guest musicians. Since their sixth album The Underfall Yard, which received critical acclaim from the progressive rock community, a more stable lineup has been established, and the band performed their first live concerts in seventeen years at Kings Place, London, in August 2015. The gigs were voted Event Of The Year by the readers of Prog magazine. Stone & Steel, a Blu-ray featuring the 2014 rehearsals at Real World Studios and four of the songs performed at Kings Place, was released on 21 March 2016. Big Big Train were the winners of the Breakthrough Award at the Progressive Music Awards held at Kew Gardens, London on 3 September 2013, and have been nominated in several other categories in recent years.

BIG BIG TRAIN, London Hackney Empire 02/11/19.Seldom does a show generate such a high level of expectation an audio/visual adventure into the unknown. Such was the sense of wonderment as the rarely-seen live cadre of core and contributing musicians entered to enthusiastic applause. This final performance on a UK mini-tour fitted perfectly into the purview of the group’s cultural preservation of all things British. In retrospect, it was made the more poignant as I took my seat next to original Fairport Convention singer, Judy Dyble, who’d just completed an album with (lead singer, front man) David Longdon. Chatting with them both at the after-show is now even more memorable, given Judy’s passing. The show itself was magnificent tour de force of progressive movements and moments. As a sell-out crowd holds its breath in the darkness, a lone figure appears from the shadows and purrs the opening line of As Long As I Have A Song in that unmistakable burnt-honey voice. Taking her time, followed by the spotlight, the Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter picks her way between the aisles of this iconic London venue, delivering the languid jazz vocal entirely acapella, while shaking the outstretched hands of fans who can’t quite believe what they’re witnessing.
It takes a special talent to command that historic stage. But for the next two hours and 23 songs, Live At Royal Albert Hall will hold you spellbound, as the singer whispers and hollers her hopes, fears and deepest secrets in your ear, making this massive venue feel like a nose-to-nose club show. A thousand interviewers have tried to unpick the fascinating enigma that is Beth Hart. But as Live At Royal Albert Hall reminds us, everything you need to know is right there in her songs – and the intimate off-the-cuff stories she spins before each one.
Stroll through downtown Los Angeles in the early-’90s and you’d have found Hart strumming guitar on 3rd Street Promenade, waiting for the big break that came when she was discovered by her manager, David Wolf, and eased into a record deal with Atlantic that gave us 1996’s Immortal and 1999’s Screamin’ For My Supper. It was a bitter-sweet period for Hart, whose unmedicated bipolar disorder and troubled personal life stopped her reaching the heights her music deserved. But to the delight of long-standing fans, she doesn’t flinch from revisiting it at the Royal Albert Hall, switching to acoustic bass and introducing the rootsy Spiders In My Bed that was written in the eye of the storm. “Back then,” she explains, “I could never sleep. I could go three or four days and stay awake, and it was just mania.”
The new millennium brought fresh hope and the musical highs returned with revered albums like 2003’s Leave The Light On and 2007’s 37 Days, Hart treats us to three of her most positive songs from that redemptive era, bolstered by the crack-squad rhythm section of Bob Marinelli (bass) and Bill Ransom (drums). For My Friend, was a highlight of 2011’s Don’t Explain: Hart’s first double-header release with Bonamassa and an album that alerted a wider audience to her jaw-dropping talents (while forging her reputation as a go-to muse for A-list guitarists including Slash and Jeff Beck).
She takes to the piano to pound through the title track of 2012’s Bang Bang Boom Boom, also cherrypicking that album for the poignant, jazz-inflected Baddest Blues. Better Than Home is represented by Trouble and Mama This One’s For You. 2016’s Fire On The Floor is mined for moments like the dramatic storm clouds of Love Is A Lie, Baby Shot Me Down and Picture In A Frame. It all ends with the astonishing slow-burn blues of Caught Out In The Rain, Hart sunk to her knees, lost in the moment as her vocal builds from a breathy vocal to a bereft roar of “God, don’t take my man”.
Not even Hart herself can follow that. And so, Live At Royal Albert Hall ends as it began, with an impassioned moment of intimacy from an artist who is setting the pace on the modern scene. With this edition, released on the occasion of the Belcea Quartet’s 20th anniversary, EuroArts fills a niche for a high definition quality audiovisual production of Beethoven´s String Quartets available on Blu-ray.
The ensemble embarked on the mammoth task of playing the complete Beethoven string quartet cycle within a space of 12 days, recorded at the Wiener Konzerthaus in 2012. Every concert featured one work each from the early, middle and late quartets, including perhaps the most exciting of all works by Beethoven: the Opus 133, the “Große Fuge“ which he wrote as the finale of the quartet Opus 130. “This music, just sounds forever « avant-garde », I think in a way that perhaps no music written after the “Große Fuge“ manages to sound to this day”, explains the quartet’s viola player Krzysztof Chorzelski. In this recording, the Belcea Quartet performs the “Große Fuge” in one piece with Opus 130, which makes this performance even more thrilling.
This extraordinary edition not only includes the Belcea’s complete recordings of String Quartets from Vienna Konzerthaus but also a 47-minute bonus documentary “On the Paths of the Beethoven String Quartets” which brings us closer to the ensemble´s reflections on Beethoven´s quartets as well as on this unique project.
