Music in Valencia in the 15th-16th centuries. “Carols by various authors, in two, and in three, and in four, and in five voices, now again corrected…” (Venice, 1556) is the name under which the Songbook of the Duke of Calabria (or Songbook of Uppsala) was printed. On this album we find a selection from this songbook with works for two and three voices, some of them instrumental, under the title “Organ singing tones”, which are configured as composition exercises around the Gregorian modes.
