The British supergroup ASIA announces the release of “ASIA in Asia Live at the Budokan, Tokyo, 1983” as a deluxe boxset for June. This box is to contain a 2LP set, 2CDs, a 40-page 12” book, a Blu-ray video, printed memorabilia and an ASIA pin badge. The live concert will also be released as a double LP in a folding cover, as a CD and digitally.

ASIA, then consisting of Geoff Downes (The Buggles & YES), Steve Howe (YES) and Carl Palmer (Emerson, Lake & Palmer) and Special Guest Greg Lake (Emerson, Lake & Palmer), visited Japan at the end of a two-year tour to promote their eponymous debut album (1982) and the follow-up “Alpha” (1983). Greg Lake replaced ASIA founding member John Wetton on short notice, who had left before the Japanese concerts.

Of the total of three concerts that the band gave on December 6, 1983 at the Budokan Arena in Tokyo, the second was recorded as a live broadcast. The broadcast was the first collaboration of its kind between Japan and MTV America. The show was previously only available on VHS.

The concert contains some of ASIA’s most famous songs, including “Time Again”, “Only Time Will Tell”, “Sole Survivor”, “Wildest Dreams”, as well as the hit single “Heat Of The Moment”.

In 2006, the original band members went on a world tour together again and released three more albums together until 2012. in 2014, the last album “Gravitas” was released, but Steve Howe was no longer involved in it.
