Steve Dobrogosz is the first of four children of Polish-born microbiologist Jerome Dobrogosz and Donna Bartones. He grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina, and attended Berklee College of Music. From 1978, he studied classical music in Stockholm, Sweden, at the Royal Academy of Music. He became part of the Swedish jazz scene as a pianist and released several albums on European record labels. Among others, he worked with Arild Andersen, Paul Motian, Kenny Wheeler, Thad Jones, Jon Christensen, Palle Danielsson, Alex Riel and Bill Frisell.

In 1982 the Odin label released the album Fairy Tales with Norwegian singer Radka Toneff. With the Swedish singer Berit Andersson he recorded four albums, of which The Final Touch was listed by the Jazz Times among the ten best of 1991.

Steve Dobrogosz is an American pianist and composer based in Sweden whose career spans several decades and ranges in style from classical to jazz and pop. He was particularly successful in collaboration with vocalists Radka Toneff during the early ’80s, Berit Andersson during the late ’80s and early ’90s, and Anna Christoffersson during the mid- to late 2000s. Born on January 26, 1956, in Bellefonte, PA, Dobrogosz grew up in Raleigh, NC, and later studied at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. In 1978 he moved to Stockholm, Sweden, and began a fruitful musical career there amid the city’s vibrant jazz scene.
