After giving her first recital at the age of nine and playing the complete Chopin Études in concert at thirteen, Kana Okada started two years later at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris, where she is currently pursuing further studies under Frank Braley. A laureate of the Spinal International Piano Competition (France) in 2009, she on both the Francis Poulenc International Competition and the Piano Campus Competition in 2013. Kana Okada has performed in the United States (California), Japan (Kawai Concerts Series, La Folle Journée), Belgium (Festival International de Quaregnon), France (Festival Chopin de Bagatelle, Piano en Valois), Italy, Morocco, and Germany. She has played with orchestra such as the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra and the Simón Bolivar Symphony Orchestra. Engagements in 2016 include appearances in Japan and in France, conducted by, among others, Kobayashi Kenichiro.

This is the new album of Seiya Ueno, one of Japan’s most famous flutists, who has led the times with his many masterful performances and unparalleled imagination. His first two albums, “Record Geijutsu Tokusei Ban”, and most recently his 4th and 5th albums, have been unaccompanied, but for his 6th album he has invited a pianist (Kanade Okada) for the first time in many years. This album is huge in that it combines three of the most important sonatas for flutists – Prokofiev, Franck and Reinecke – on one disc. The result is a masterpiece that will be listened to for years to come as one of the greatest flute albums of all time.
