“Walking through the door is a whole world, but, in fact, you just have to take a step.” (Jean Anouilh) and this is not the young French pianist Ilan Elbaz did it with courage and passion for his first album “Beyond The Door”.

The creative act is a door that announces an appointment with oneself but also with the unknown, appointments that then lead you to an elsewhere and a fantasized, dreamed beyond that frees itself from reality, the tangible, where our pianist weaves his work on an imaginary piano 2.0 and forges in an augmented alternative reality a work where jazz standards, classical music, rock, Israeli folklore, compositions and improvisations do not rub shoulders or intersect but merge…quite simply.

“Beyond The Door” invites us to let go and also to take this step to immerse ourselves in Ilan’s colorful and bewitching universe which is only fluidity, poetry, energy et…si modern.
