His talent is huge but it never brought him to mainstream success. Yet, Dominic Miller is one of the most brilliant guitarists of his generation. Guitar aficionados certainly know him from his work with Sting, among other collaborations. Born in Argentina in 1960 of an American father and an Irish mother, Dominic Miller grew up in the US and lived in the UK as a student. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with many stars, including Paul Simon, the Chieftains, Rod Stewart, Bryan Adams, Phil Collins, Sheryl Crow, Peter Gabriel and Plácido Domingo. His debut album Silent Light, was released in 2017 on the ECM label. For this evocative and refined record Miller was solo on the guitar with the only support of Miles Bould’s elegant percussion.

There can be little argument that Chic was disco’s greatest band; and, working in a heavily producer-dominated field, they were most definitely a band. By the time Chic appeared in the late ’70s, disco was already slipping into the excess that eventually caused its downfall. Chic bucked the trend by stripping disco’s sound down to its basic elements; their funky, stylish grooves had an organic sense of interplay that was missing from many of their overproduced competitors. Chic’s sound was anchored by the scratchy, James Brown-style rhythm guitar of Nile Rodgers and the indelible, widely imitated (sometimes outright stolen) bass lines of Bernard Edwards; as producers, they used keyboard and string embellishments economically, which kept the emphasis on rhythm. Chic’s distinctive approach not only resulted in some of the finest dance singles of their time, but also helped create a template for urban funk, dance-pop, and even hip-hop in the post-disco era. Not coincidentally, Rodgers and Edwards wound up as two of the most successful producers of the ’80s.

Avalon Sunset is the nineteenth studio album by Northern Irish singer-songwriter Van Morrison.
The album opens with “Whenever God Shines His Light”, issued as a successful single that charted at No. 20 in the UK and was a duet with Cliff Richard. The album contains the religious ballad “Have I Told You Lately”, which became a hit single for Morrison, reaching #12 on the Adult Contemporary Charts and was a bigger hit for Rod Stewart in 1993. This song was included on Morrison’s 2007 album, Van Morrison at the Movies – Soundtrack Hits.[citation needed] Brian Hinton compares the idyllic female in “Orangefield” to Beatrice in the Divine Comedy.
Phil Keaggy covered “When Will I Ever Learn to Live in God” on his 1993 album Crimson and Blue.
On Avalon Sunset, Rob Sheffield wrote, Morrison sang about God and love in a scat-influenced style, set against a musical backdrop of mellow folk rock. According to Donald Clarke, the album combined “religiosity and Celtic feeling, a sort of superior New Age music”.

The entire album turned out to be a companion piece to her autobiography as while she was writing the book, she was also recording the songs on TN’T. On Gnarls Barkley’s “Crazy,” she slows it down just a tad, then wrings every drop of sweat and blood from each and every syllable till your spine tingles, with “Dirty Old Town” (The Pogues / Rod Stewart), Bettye reworks the lyrical setting to Detroit—singing about her first love at Northern High and the Detroit race riots. Meanwhile, when she takes on The Black Keys’ “I’m Not The One,” the sensual grit of the song sizzles with her all-knowing rasp. “I’m Not the One” is now available at all digital outlets and the video from the Rolling Stone website can be seen below.

The Best Is Yet to Come is the upcoming eighteenth studio album by Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler. It is scheduled to be released on 26 February 2021.
The Best Is Yet to Come adopts the sound of 80s pop rock. Tyler told Ultimate Classic Rock she felt “When the Lights Go Down” had a similar sound to the music of Bruce Springsteen and Rod Stewart.
The album contains four cover songs; “Somebody’s Hero” by C.B. Green, “I’m Only Guilty (Of Loving You)” previously recorded by Chick Willis and Tab Benoit, “I’m Not in Love” by 10cc, and “Catch the Wind” by Donovan. The latter two songs had originally been intended as bonus tracks on Tyler’s previous album, Between the Earth and the Stars.

This release may be a surprise to some who associate Auger, quite correctly, with the rock music and performing pyrotechnics seated at the Hammond organ. During an illustrious career he has worked with the likes of Rod Stewart, Jimi Hendrix, John McLaughlin and Led Zeppelin. An early claim to fame is that he played on ‘For Your Love’ by The Yardbirds. That was in 1965. A little later he formed Brian Auger and the Trinity. His duet with Julie Driscoll on Bob Dylan’s ‘This Wheel’s on Fire’ reached number 5 on the UK Singles chart in 1965. Their joint album billed as Julie Driscoll, Brian Auger and the Trinity reached number 12 in the UK Albums Chart in the same year.
