Although somewhat unimaginatively titled, 1973’s Beach Boys in Concert is significantly more than a hastily compiled live collection of hits. To the contrary, the set includes highlights from the band’s earliest sides (“Surfer Girl”) through to the groundbreaking Smile era (“Good Vibrations” and “Heroes and Villains”) as well as more concurrent material (“Sail On Sailor” and “Marcella”). These are complemented by a generous representation of deeper cuts including “You Still Believe in Me” from Pet Sounds, “Let the Wind Blow” from Wild Honey (1968), as well as later tracks like “Leaving This Town” and “Funky Pretty.” The song “We Got Love” was originally recorded and penciled in for inclusion on Holland, but the laid-back rocker didn’t make that release and instead makes its debut here.

Uncovered And Unplugged, which removes the overdubbed party sounds from the 12-track original album’s mix and adds 69 more songs and dialogue tracks culled from all of the band’s Party! recording sessions.

The wheel that turns round in a square world. The symbolic nature of the big wheel inspires myths and sacred themes; it refers to the idea of perfection, like the circle; it refers above all to movement, evolution, what is to come. It is also a new beginning, perpetual creation. It was this idea of a cycle and a new beginning that stimulated me to compose this album; a new repertory with longstanding companions. After the album Kaléidoscope, released in October 2016, my desire to reveal my sonic identity further now leads me to continue my journey in the quartet form. This new project takes flight thanks to the talent of musicians free of all aesthetic dogmatism, who have consented to place their talent at the service of my compositions in order to cast light on these various tableaux in sound. By combining four strong personalities who share the same artistic attitude, I hope to be able to invite the listener to travel within my universe. Bercé par la musique classique émanant d’une lignée de musiciens doués (son père n’est autre que le chef d’orchestre Jean-Claude Casadesus), Thomas Enhco s’est fait un nom dans le jazz contemporain avec ses trois albums précédents travaillés en trio, Esquisse (2006), Someday My Prince Will Come (2010) et Fireflies (2012). Avec ce premier opus réalisé en solitaire, l’héritage familial ressort davantage au long des huit séquences composées par le pianiste.
Écrit en majeure partie à New York, Feathers évoque selon son auteur les différentes étapes d’une histoire d’amour, racontées par un piano volubile, instrument idéal pour ce qui est de transmettre toute la gamme d’émotions y afférant : la rêverie de « Watching You Sleep » que l’on croirait tirée d’un cahier de Debussy ; la passion folle de « Looking for the Moose », pièce maîtresse et savante exprimant l’enthousiasme et ses battements de coeur ; « Je voulais te dire » où la violence des sentiments laisse place à la réflexion, voire au doute ; et ainsi de suite du malicieux « Mischievous », multipliant les détours, et de « The Last Night of February », jouant sur deux tableaux (mineur et majeur).
Les plumes (feathers) du recueil sont à la fois celles de la légèreté des jambes, de la tête et du coeur qui s’emballent, et les traces qu’elles laissent quand l’histoire prend fin ou mauvaise tournure, comme dans « Letting You Go ». Les sentiments laissent alors place aux souvenirs de « Sand Creek Song » et de « I’m Fine, Thank You ». En équilibre entre l’écriture et l’improvisation, Thomas Enhco démontre une nouvelle fois ses qualités de compositeur éclectique et de virtuose sensible.

After working with renowned producers and session musicians in some of the best studios in the world over the last years, Thomas Dybdahl returns to his own studio 1micadventure in Stavanger to find a new, fresh sound on his new album . ‘Fever’ was produced, recorded, written and performed by Thomas together with his long-time studio partner and hip hop producer H?vard Rosenberg in their own studio by the sea on the west coast of Norway. What was first meant to be just a single, quickly turned into an EP and eventually an album as they were on too much of a creative roll to stop. The pairing of urban/hip hop producer H?vard Rosenberg and Dybdahl’s more melancholy musical style might not seem the obvious one on paper, but the two share a deep rooted love for soul and funk music and quickly found an expression that they felt gave a nod to inspirations from the past, but also felt fresh and like it belonged in the world now. “We would listen to everything that gave us a kick. Anything from classic artists like Nina Simone, Bill Withers, and Sly to newer soul artists like D’Angelo, and Michael Kiwanuka: we wanted to make a soulful guitar record that didn’t feel like a guitar record and that sounded both old and fresh at the same time.” The signature acoustic guitar was scrapped early and never touched again for the duration of the album as it didn’t seem to sit in any of the songs this time around. Instead the setup used was an old beat up Telecaster played through a Tandberg 4 track tape recorder, a P-bass, drums and vocals. Almost everything on the album is played by Thomas himself and was a result of wanting to be in complete control, but also of being able to work fast, instinctively and free flowing without fear of going down the wrong path and wasting anyone’s precious studio time. “I’m incredibly proud of what we have made and despite being quite a departure from what people might normally associate me with I think it might be my most personal album yet. I can’t wait to let it loose in the world!”

Duesmann explains, “I was born 1996 in Leipzig, Germany. In my childhood I had 7 years piano and violin lessons. But till the end I had a hard time reading music and keeping on practicing. Instead I started composing my own songs. In 2014 I started teaching myself Fingerstyle. First I was strongly influenced by Pop music and thus by Sungha Jung and the Candyrats Record artists. Later I focused more on the origin of Fingerstyle and taught myself Travis-Picking, Slide and Lap Steel. So my style combines classical and modern elements of Fingerstyle. Today I’m living in Hamburg and am working as a project manager for Steinway and Sons. Till now the music is more a hobby, but it is growing. I think the tracks I wrote have a value and need to be heard.”
