It draws on the span of jazz history from stride to free improv w/ inspiration from hip-hop, funk, & DC go-go, making surprising connections between styles, boldly veering from piledriver funk to piquant stride, vigorous swing to hip-hop swagger, abstraction to deep-bottom grooves.
The new album Undaunted features Gilchrist on piano with a band of Eric Kennedy on Drums, Kevin Pinder on Percussion, Herman Burney on Bass, Brian Settles on Tenor Sax, and Christian Hizon on Trombone.
