American composer Ross Lee Finney’s Pilgrim Psalms is a collection of contemporary settings of inspirational hymns carried by the pilgrims to Plymouth in 1620. Finney considered these melodies “among America’s greatest folk heritage, influencing sacred singing through each singing.” This recording features Andrew Clark leading the Harvard Glee Club, the Radcliffe Choral Society and soloists on the Pilgrim Psalms, while the Harvard-Radcliffe Collegium Musicum opens and closes the programme with two companion pieces by Finney.
