Twenty-five years ago, Alanis Morissette became an overnight superstar because she was jilted and angry and she thought the world ought to know. Now that she’s older, she seems to have reconciled some of her demons but the embers of her angst have been replaced with generalized anxiety and depression on Such Pretty Forks in the Road, which is her first record in eight years and ninth overall. If Such Pretty Forks is to be taken as autobiography, she’s now a middle-aged mother who suffers insomnia, recognizes her addictions, trips out on acid occasionally, and, after surviving some sort of nervous breakdown, has a firm grip on irony. Her lyrics are still sharp, and there’s plenty of drama and tension throughout, but unfortunately her cris de coeur don’t translate to catchy, cutting songs.

So-Called Chaos is the sixth studio album (fourth released internationally) by Canadian singer-songwriter Alanis Morissette, released in May 2004. It had been two years since Morissette released her fifth studio album, Under Rug Swept. In that time she had met her then fiancé Ryan Reynolds, inspiring many of the songs she wrote for So-Called Chaos.

This new four-disc Jagged Little Pill: Collector’s Edition includes remastered audio of the original album plus an entire disc of 10 unreleased demos from the era handpicked by Morissette from her archives, offering a deeper and more personal look at the classic album. Also included is a previously unreleased concert from 1995 as well as 2005’s Jagged Little Pill Acoustic. The track “The Bottom Line” is possibly the most historically significant-it’s the first song Morissette and album producer Glen Ballard wrote together within an hour of their very first meeting in 1994. Ballard also oversaw mixing and mastering for this collectors edition.

Singer/songwriter Alanis Morissette became one of the most unlikely stars of the 1990s on the strength of her third album, Jagged Little Pill. A former child actress turned dance-pop diva, Morissette transformed herself into a confessional alternative singer/songwriter in the vein of Liz Phair and Tori Amos. However, she bolstered that formula with enough pop sensibility, slight hip-hop flourishes, and marketing savvy to become a superstar. Jagged Little Pill, released in 1995, spun off six highly successful singles and earned Morissette several Grammy Awards the following year, including Album of the Year.

On the strength of the angst-ridden single “You Oughta Know,” Jagged Little Pill gained attention upon its release in the summer of 1995. The song soon received heavy airplay from alternative radio outlets and MTV, sending the album into the Top Ten and helping it achieve multi-platinum status. Jagged Little Pill’s subsequent singles — “Hand in My Pocket,” “All I Really Want,” “You Learn,” and “Ironic” — kept the album in the Top Ten for an astounding 69 weeks, and Morissette was nominated for six Grammys in early 1996.

The album received give Grammy awards including: Best Rock Album, Best Female Rock Vocal Performance, Best Rock Song and Album of the Year.

“Havoc and Bright Lights” is the eighth (and sixth worldwide) studio album by Canadian-American singer-songwriter Alanis Morissette. The album received mixed reviews from music critics. Some praised Morissette’s softer tones and production, while others found the album overproduced and lyrically weak. This Deluxe Edition contains two additional songs and bonus disc with the live tracks.
