Juilien Soro, composer, alto, tenor and soprano saxophonist, also keyboardist. With a first prize with distinction at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (CNSMDP), he is one of the most talented young musicians of his generation. He started as a leader and composer of the Inama Sextet (1st prize for group and soloist at the Esprit Jazz Festival in Saint-Germain-des-Prés in 2007 and 2nd Prize for composition at the Concours National de La Défense in 2007). During the same period, he was engaged as a sideman in the quintet of trombonist Glenn Ferris and in the saxophone quartet of Jean-Louis Chautemps and François Jeanneau.
Together with Stephan Caracci, who plays vibraphone, marimba, glockenspiel, other percussions and keyboards, and drummer Ariel Tessier, they form the group “Players”.

The Big Sound is an album recorded by American jazz saxophonist Johnny Hodges featuring performances with members of the Duke Ellington Orchestra recorded in 1957 and released on the Verve label.
Born on July 25, 1907, Johnny Hodges was the saxophonist of choice for Duke Ellington. Hodges played with considerable authority when with a band. He also possessed a technical mastery of his instrument and an individualistic style. His use of vibrato was one-of-a-kind. At Hodges’s funeral, Ellington had this to say: “Never the world’s most highly animated showman or greatest stage personality, but a tone so beautiful it sometimes brought tears to the eyes – this was Johnny Hodges. This is Johnny Hodges.”

“On the face of it this modest little mainstream album doesn’t have classic status, but I was so beguiled by it that I couldn’t resist the four stars. I was immediately roped in with the opening Mabel’s Dream, a rarely used King Oliver tune from the dawn of jazz, and the addition of that timeless jazz musician Kenny Burrell to interpret it had me completely hooked. Dick Wellstood is on top form throughout both these sessions.
