Ommadawn is the third record album by Mike Oldfield, originally released in 1975 on Virgin Records. As with Hergest Ridge and Tubular Bells, Ommadawn is another two-movement work. Oldfield makes economic use of a relatively small number of subjects throughout Ommadawn and develops them extensively, both with musical variation and varying the instruments used. Each of the two movements of Ommadawn utilise their own subjects without sharing them between the two movements. Oldfield sought out the ancient Celtic influence on English music and composed for traditional instruments such as uilleann pipes on the original LP version.

Radek Baborák is a Czech conductor and one of the greatest living players of horn. This album contains chorales and arias from church cantatas and violin sonatas that Baborák usually loves at recitals, and it really blows a variety of J.S. Bach. The co-star with strong support is Aleš Bárta, a leading Czech organist. The rich beauty of Baborák and the sound of the pipe organ played by Bárta are wrapped in the sound of Dvorak Hall, creating a sacred space.

The violin sonatas have a perfect pitch, composition and technique, while the chorales and arias have a drunken Baborák sound. Not only Baborák fans, horn fans, Bach fans, but also a wide range of fans can enjoy it as a collection of chorales that is ideal for the Christmas season.

Three decades on from his recording debut as a leader, and more than four decades since his first professional performance at age 8 in The Moffett Family Band, bassist extraordinaire Charnett Moffett can look back on a storied career. It began at a remarkably young age in the family band led by his father, drummer Charles Moffett; was forged in his formative years in the thriving Bay Area fusion scene; developed along parallel tracks in the classically-oriented classrooms of Juilliard and the hothouse Greenwich Village club scene in early-80s New York City; and has continued to evolve through experiences with iconic artists like McCoy Tyner, Art Blakey, Sonny Sharrock and Ornette Coleman, (Charnett is on his Pulitzer prize winning Sound Museum), along with like-minded peers including the Marsalis family, Kenny Garrett and longtime compatriot Jordan.

This is the album that started it all for George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley! Whether or not it will ever be “cool” to admit liking them, Make It Big sounds pretty good after all of these years. Granted, “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go” is an impossible notion to begin with–who could possibly sleep after this sugar binge? But “Everything She Wants” has a sophisticated tension in its syncopation, and, wow, could the boy sing! “Careless Whisper” really showed that George Michael had a firm grasp on R&B and Soul.

On this spectacular instrument, with its 10,400 pipes, Mattias Wager plays French music from the Thirties. The music, by Alain, Jolivet, Bonnal and Duruflé shows the scope and sheer creativity of its time, and its feeling of boundless musical possibilities. With its wealth of sound, the Stockholm City Hall organ is one of the few instruments that make it possible to really bring out all the colors in this repertoire. Additionally this is the first real recording of this organ, even though it was built in 1926, 3 years after the Stockholm City Hall was opened to the public.
