In exciting music news, Scottish rock band Mogwai has been tapped to provide the score for the upcoming Taron Egerton–Paul Walter Hauser limited series Black Bird, which will premiere July 8 on Apple TV+, an individual familiar with the project has told Below the Line.

The six-episode series is based on the true-crime memoir In With The Devil: A Fallen Hero, A Serial Killer, and A Dangerous Bargain for Redemption by James Keene and Hillel Levin. Egerton plays Keene, a drug dealer who gets busted and is sentenced to 10 years in prison. He lands the opportunity of a lifetime when the feds offer to commute his sentence if he agrees to transfer to a maximum security facility and befriend a possible serial killer (Hauser) in the hopes of locating the body of one of his alleged victims.

Oscar winner Greg Kinnear co-stars alongside Ray Liotta and Sepideh Moafi, and the cast also includes Jake McLaughlin, Joe Williamson, and James DuMont.
